I'm holding off leaving a bad review to window to the womb right now.
Had such a scare yesterday. I went for a 6 week internal reassurance scan because I was worried I wasn't throwing up as much as a lot of y'all are. Technically my LMP was 18th August which puts me at 6 weeks.
The staff there scared the hell out of me stating it was a PUL (Pregnancy of Unknown Location)... ie. They couldn't see it.
Which is clearly bollocks. You can clearly see the gestational sac right there.
I was crying worried and marched over to another Gyn who said that this clearly isn't a PUL, it's clearly right there in the middle. It just suggests I'm only 4-5 weeks along even if my LMP was longer ago sometimes cycles aren't regular because you've come off birth control. Which I had. She asked me when I thought I implanted (I know exactly when because it was two days of light spotting) which was 14th September so I'm technically about 2 weeks into "being pregnant"
Anyway. I'm pretty angry that window to the womb were a bit robotic about it and just declared something was wrong just because it didn't look exactly like a 6 week scan should - especially as they didn't ask any questions like "could you be less far along than you think?" Or "have you come off birth control recently and your cycles might not have settled down making it hard to apply the usual weeks from start of LMP".
They even told me to go to A&E rather than just apply some critical problem solving thinking...
Should I leave that bad review?
Advice to y'all - don't go to a 6 week reassurance scan unless you know your periods are regular and you are 100% sure of when your last LMP was.

This is why I don’t do early scans
Although can be tempting
I love the thrill of waiting for my 12 week scan.

This must have been scary for you. When I book with window to the womb it asks me when I had my first positive test, not sure why it didn't for you. Lots of people on here have been offered another scan further along to check how things are going. I am 9 weeks pregnant and I've only had a few days where I've felt nauseous and no sickness but with my son I was ill! Midwife said every pregnancy is different x

I had my first very faint positive test 15th September. Which was 2 weeks ago... 🫤

The thing is it's like my last cycle was 5 weeks long. Because of coming off birth control. I had like a week and a half long fertile period instead of 5 days or whatever. And my period was 2 days longer.
So all the other timings matched up for a 6 week scan but I probably ovulated a week and a bit later than "normal" meaning they should be looking for a scan more like a 4-5 week one.
And yes it was bloody terrifying. If they'd just asked "could you be earlier along than you think?" I wouldn't have felt so terrified.

Yeah, it's the "every pregnancy is different" thing that people don't tell you. I keep expecting to be exactly as far along or experiencing the same symptoms as people say online.
I just need to keep it in mind that it's ok to not be "textbook".

I’m glad you’ve got some answers I refuse to go to early scans there so expensive! I had an nhs one with son cause I had light bleeding at 8 weeks I’m just trusting my body and plan to see baby at 12 weeks unless I have heavy bleeding or severe cramps then I will worry. I see soo many people get extra anxiety by going to reassurance scans too early! As for no vomiting that might be because it hasn’t hit you yet, or you might be lucky like me with my first born I wasn’t sick or nauseous once in that pregnancy which is completely normal for some! Xx

Hi lovely, your fertile window is always the same length no matter how long your cycle is, it’s the 2 other parts that can vary in length, so it is very possible you just ovulated late. I got pregnant with my daughter when I came off birth control, my first cycle was 5 weeks coming off and then I had a 43 day cycle (2nd cycle after pill) but I knew when I ovulated as if I didn’t I would of been similar to you and unsure on dates. I’m sure if you get scanned again in a few weeks it will be clearer xx

When I booked window to the womb over the phone they deferred me from booking at 6 weeks they said they very rarely see anything at 6 weeks and to come when I’m post the 7 week mark. They also told me they are not licensed to see anyone before 6 weeks mark as well.

It must be dependent on area of WTTW.
We booked an early reassurance scan thinking I was 6 weeks and 1 day. They couldn’t find baby in the scan but I was really tense and nervous. They sent me away for 30 mins to try and relax explained pul and miscarriage ext to me.
Brought me back in 30 mins later and found baby. I was measuring 4 weeks and 6 days so a lot earlier than I thought.
Went back two weeks later and saw the heartbeat and now we are 10 weeks and have booked our gender scan in 6 weeks with them.
Defo raise your concerns with them but for me an early reassurance scan was so so worth it.

Kayleigh... thanks for your comment. Literally felt like we went through the same thing. Were you in Reading?

When I had my reassurance scan at window to the womb they called me couple days before my appointment about trying to go the week after as I was gonna be only 6weeks and 4 days. But when I went I was a day forward than what I thought but this was in Southampton and they were pretty good from my experience anyways

no I’m in Scotland. Our one was so lovely tho. They explain everything so nicely to us and we’re so patient and amazing. They answers all our questions and made sure we were okay when it came to leaving! Xx

Mine did not make me feel ok at all. Like they said I should go to A & E. Which was so unreassuring.

have you called your early pregnancy unit? They might be able to help? Sorry you had a bad experiance. It sounds like they were not the most emphatic! X

This must of been so scary. But I agree, window to the womb were very ‘meh’. With my first, we went to a company called dragon ultrasound and they were so accommodating, friendly and kind. I only went to WTW because I couldn’t get booked in with dragon!

16th September? My LPM was 4th ago and this week I'm actually 6weeks by Scan. I'll be 8W by lpm but apparently I ovulate v late. I'm having a re scan next week. You are prb very very early. I would try to go to another scan in 3 weeks time maybe

Denise I think you're spot on. I just ovulated super late this time because of coming off birth control and my hormones being all over the place.
I have a gyn that I trust now and will just trust her and go to her when she says I need to.

I had a similar experience at mine. They were adamant I was so far along even though I told them I had irregular periods and then kept saying we are sorry giving all these leaflets and stuff saying there was two options either we were too early or baby wasn’t growing. We had such a poor experience and the way we were treated felt like something awful had happened

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve never had an early scan because I read so many reviews like this online! I’m still so anxious up to my 12 week scan as I was with my last baby but once I get to it hope everything is ok 🤞

I had a terrible experience at window to the womb, I left them a flipping review !

Hey sorry to hear about your experience that must have been really stressful. I literally just had an early scan with them this morning thinking that when they say 6+ weeks that means gestational age and I'm technically at 8. So we went in thinking we'd see a heartbeat and had a real shocker when they couldn't detect one and said the scan was inconclusive. They could see the embryo but not much else. Measurements show that the fetal age is 6 weeks which I knew because gestational age is always +2 weeks on top of that, but their website doesn't explain whether you can do the scan from 6 weeks fetal age or gestational. If I'd known it referred to fetal I definitely would have waited because instead of peace of mind we now have an anxious 3 week wait until the NHS scan 😔

Yeah, I think it's just the general marketing of early scans. They should be used more as dating scans rather than "we would expect X by this time and when there's not something's wrong with you and the pregnancy."
Just asking "is there any chance you might be less far along" would have gone a long way to reassure me.

My last menstrual period was the 14 of august and I'm 6 weeks +5 days. If your last menstrual period was the 15 of September you are 2 weeks pregnant. And you are not going to see much on the scan.

Hi I’m a little confused why you where even able to have a scan if your last period was in September That wouldn’t make you 6weeks? My LMP was 12th august and I had my 6week scan this week measuring slightly behind so I’m only 6+4 today. I think you just had scan far too early, if I’m honest and Window to Womb should of know that’s from your dates. You must only just be pregnant like 4 weeks so you are at least 2weeks too early! Even at 6 weeks it’s tiny all can see is embryo which is baby and gestational sac which is circular next to the bean shape baby. I would suggest waiting until more 7weeks. This was my 6+1 measuring and we could see flickering heartbeat 💓 unfortunately back in April I had MC and at our 6week scan there was no heartbeat l was holding hope it was too soon but reality was I then MC and it never had heartbeat sadly. I had scan before that at 5weeks something and all could see was gestational sac. So before 6 weeks that’s all your gonna see. Finger crossed 4u🤞

that's ridiculous scarying you like that obviously they are not well trained in there profession or there bedside manner I think u shld complain they can do this to other women and scare them to! my midwife was ridiculous to I had a 1 in 80 chance of baby being downs and before I even got my nipt results bk she said you could terminate as the chance of having 2 babies with down is unlikely I'm still waiting for my results! it's horrible how they treat pregnant women now adays they like to scare you and stress you out! I hope your OK and try not to worry to much, if you can maybe go for a private scan they seem to be a bit more nicer than nhs midwifes iv herd xx

You said your period was 18th of sept, but you’ve done a test on 15th of sept and it was faint, have you done another pregnancy test since the faint one to confirm pregnancy?
Was the period you had a actual period or was it light like implantation?
I did 3 clear blue and they was all positive, 3 different ones and they was negitive I now have my period

Sorry
I mean 18th August.🫤😂

That makes a little more sense. I think your still super early.
You might not have feel pregnant bang on ovulation day so are probs just a little bit behind what your thought.
If your worried call early pregnancy unit and explain and they might scan you.

My 4 week 6 days scan was a little further along that your scan above. We saw gestational sack and egg yolk and tiny tiny baby. I think your dates are probs off and your around 4-5 weeks. It happens more often than you think. If your not 100% sure of the day you ovulate it could be off. I ovulated late so I’m like 8 days behind my last period days which is totally normal. The period date is just so they can work out when to get you in for scan ect.

Yeah Kayleigh I think you're exactly right. I know what day I implanted exactly. 13th September. So I'm only pregnant for two and a bit weeks. Which makes me about 4+3? And about 4+1 on the day I scanned I think (Thursday). So yeah. I think if I went in three days time from now I'd see the same you did on your 4+6 scan.

I’d hold off a few weeks cause your still not gonna see anything to give you reassurance.
When we were 6 weeks 6 days we say baby’s heartbeat fluttering away.

Ahh that’s makes so much more sense being 18th August not September. I think your just not as far a long yet as mine was 12th August I thought I was 6+4 and turned out to only be 6+1 on Wednesdays so you are at lest 6days or more behind me most likely more as I got my first BFP on 7th September and if you didn’t implant until 13th September your definitely further behind. I would wait couple of weeks and re scan else where. Remember unfortunately with private scan places anyone can buy equipment and set up scanning clinic NHS told me this. That’s why best to wait for NHS or make sure they are licensed. So sorry for your experience stay positive xx
