C section - compression stockings

Firstly well done for being up and about so soon!

In terms of the stockings, it varies depending on the reason you're having to wear them. So I would check with doctor/maternity/health visitor - anyone looking after you at the moment.

I'm 6 weeks post section and still in mine 😂

I think you can get conflicting info. Hospital said 6 weeks to me and midwife came out on day 2 and said if I am moving around etc I could take them off. I kept mine on about 5 days and took them off as I was walking around etc

They're just to help reduce the risk of clots so ideally 6 weeks after but it's because you're not moving as much, if you're moving around like normal then that element of the risk isn't there :)

i was told i didn’t need to wear them when i was discharged & ended up back in the hospital with leg swelling at day 9. Then i was lectured for not wearing since i was supposed to 🙄.

Hi hun, I had a c section and was active around the same time as what you are!

I never wore the compression socks as I was never advised of this, I just kept my legs elevated in the first few days and the swelling in my legs eventually went!

I wore mine for around 5 days but as long as you are active and moving you will be fine! Some advise that you wear them whilst your on blood thinners too, congratulations and well done for being up and about 🥰 xx

Mine came off before leaving the hospital!

I was told to wear mine when I am resting to help prevent the swelling specially when being on feet for a period of time xxx

I was told that you need to keep them on for 6 weeks pp especially of your taking the blood thinning injections which I assume you are

I removed mine when the swelling was gone. About 10 days or so

i was told to wear mine while i had my blood thinners for 10 days and after that i was fine without them!

Hospital told me 6 weeks but a midwife told me I could stop after 2 if I was fairly mobile. I was having the injections too, not sure if that’s relevant as I know they reduce clotting anyway!

If you are active then no need. I stopped wearing them as soon as I was discharged (so day #2).

I was given 10 days of blood thinning injections so will be finished with them Monday. Do you know if 10 days is pretty standard ? Or do others require them for longer - thank you 😊

I had the injections for 6 weeks! I’ve seen people saying they had various amounts online. I imagine it’s somewhat dependent on each person and their own risk factors?

It’s up to you if you’re getting a walk in every day and you don’t have fluid on your feet or legs you should be fine, they’re more for people at risk of DVTs and not able to move much. I didn’t wear mine afterwards and I’d bought my own more comfortable versions, but all the swelling in my feet and legs had gone down to pre pregnancy levels and didn’t return - so I felt safe in doing so

I’m on blood thinning injections for 6 weeks and wasn’t told this? I haven’t worn them since the hospital!

I was told 6 weeks but I stopped wearing after 2 weeks as my legs were getting irritated and itchy and was popping anti histamine tablets left right and centre. I basically wore them until the swelling in my legs and feet went down and then I stopped wearing them

yes all my swelling has completely gone! I’m taking them off 🙏😊
