End of our BF journey

I believe we have came to the end of out BF journey because i’m not producing enough, my LO is a very hungry boy and he’s losing weight.
(Please don’t give me way to get my supply ‘up’ as i’ve tried and it’s simply not enough)

I’m not ready to stop but I need to for the sake of my boy, were already combi-feeding and I need to make the switch to full formula.

I’m just wanting to know that i’m not alone doing this as i’m absolutely heart broken, I cry when I think about stopping as I love our time together feeding. How did you deal with the pain? ❤️‍🩹
My last feed will be next Sunday

Can you pump some and get a piece of jewellery made?

Aw I feel for you. We really struggled at the beginning and the idea of not being able to bf hurt me a lot more than I thought it would.

Try to reduce slowly, there’s a lot of hormonal changes that come with stopping. I kept breastfeeding my biggest one as part of her night time routine long after we switched to formula, so we still had that moment of calm and bonding, maybe that’s something that could work for you?

Your not alone hunny, my little girl Freya-Ann was also EBF but was wanting boobies all the time non stop and even when I'd tell the Health visitor this she said her weight should be more then but wasn't so on to Formula we
Went and shes so happy now. I mean even after battling reflux and bottle refusing she's more then happy.

Also like Hazel has said we still have boobie when she's so tired she'll use me as comfort or her AM feed at 4/6 ish she will still happily have boobies.

Pain wise if your still going to pump to use the milk in foods when your LO is older then keep to it or offer boobie 1 or 2 a day to keep mastitis at bay. Then fizzle it out if you don't feed for a while your supply should diminish hope this helps momma x

Can you still put him on the boob even though he'll be on formula? Ok, he doesn't get full feed, but a little snack and you can have the together time a little longer?
You're an amazing mum, doing the best for your baby, sending lots of love 💕

I'm having the same thoughts my little man wants more than I'm producing. Thinking it's time to start on the formula and keep feeding now and again to top him up.

I was thinking the same as Lenka! If you enjoy bf so much, why don't you continue with small amounts even if it's just a top up.

yeah i’m going to order a ring tomorrow to remember it! Gorgeous thought x

I have thought about doing a little snack but I think for my mental health as i’ve reallllly been struggling with having to stop, it would be best to stop altogether because it would just play on my mind that it’s not enough.

I feel like i’ve got something to prove to the world by BF but really I think who the hell am I trying to impress. My hormones are crazy!

Thankyou ladies for all your love x

just butting in here but can you tell me more about this breast milk jewellery? Never heard of it but it sounds so interesting

4 months is more than a lot of women could do, remember that. Saying this is hard for you shows how much you care for your baby and yeah, hormones are a bitch. You said you have week to go, soak up those moments, get some nice selfies and if you feel stopping cold turkey is the best, do it. If you change your mind, do that. No right or wrong, just whatever feels right for you x

Sending love ❤️ this is tough. But what you've done is AMAZING. I breastfed my first for only about 6 weeks, and part of that was combi. It broke my heart but time heals all wounds. Once your beautiful bubba starts to move on to more milestones, especially weaning which isn't long at all! It becomes less and less important.

If you feel blue, remember what you have given him, not what could have been x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
