I am just over 10 weeks pregnant and started having some bleeding this morning. It was just light pink and didn’t last long before stopping. This afternoon it started again and has been more and brighter red but no clots or anything. I spoke to 111 and out of hours GP who are referring me to EPU for a scan but in the meantime you can’t help but worry. What are your experiences of this? Does it sound like I have anything to worry about or could this be normal?

My friend said to me recently she wished they would normalise spotting during pregnancy. She spotted during her pregnancy and it’s nothing to worry about, her bub was fine. Heavy bleeding and clotting would be a concern. I hope you can get some rest tonight 💜

I had spotting and one case of bleeding multiple times in my pregnancy and every time they said it was down to a cervical ectropion - apparently very normal and very common! (one time it was bright red when I was about 28 weeks and I PANICKED) every time I went in to get checked because even though it can be bad, it isn't always. I had a very healthy baby boy, so even though its hard not to panic, just try not to, panicking will only make it worse, just try and do something to relax in the meantime (my first case of spotting was at 8 weeks and I had to wait 3 days for a scan...safe to say I did not relax at all in those 3 days 😂) wishing you all the best ❤

spotting is common but I definitely wouldn’t wish it to be normalised, most of the time everything is okay but in my case it never was

I’ve had some degree of spotting and bleeding in all of my pregnancies.
First was just brown spotting which eventually stopped at 10 weeks, all fine.
Second pregnancy was a bleed that started at 12 weeks, bright red but no clots and not heavy, but unfortunately signalled the beginning of my missed miscarriage revealing itself.
This pregnancy, brown discharge which stopped at 11 weeks. Then at 15 and 17 weeks, two VERY heavy, bright red bleeds with clots, baby is fine. I’m 26 weeks now.

It could be a haematoma. I had the same thing when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. I had a scan and all was okay and they located the bleed (it is uncommon for this to happen but the bleed was in my cervix). I was just extra careful about bumping into things after that. Currently 32 weeks pregnant and no further issues.
I would recommend wearing a pad just in case. Also helps you monitor how much you are bleeding
Hope you manage to have a scan to alleviate your concerns. Always call whenever you have bleeding - thats always the advice I've been given x
Thanks all, it’s definitely hard not to panic when you see bleeding. It’s not stopped all afternoon but not heavy or filling a pad but I had 2 small clots when I wiped earlier so called 111 back and now have a scan tomorrow morning so fingers crossed everything is okay 💜

I’ve had bleeding on 3 occasions. 2 we’re miscarriages but my current pregnancy is still going strong. With my latest one I had a HUGE gush of blood and passed a really big blood clot around 7w5d. I didn’t bleed again until a couple days later when I had bright red spotting for a few hours. After that nothing. It turned out to be a subchorionic hemorrhage that was measuring about 5cm x 1.7cm which is fairly common in pregnancy. I had a scan the next day and then again at 10 weeks last week and baby girl is still growing right on track. The SCH is still there but my doctor isn’t concerned and said I could come off modified bed rest since everything seems stable so far. Fingers crossed for you!

Try not to worry yourself too much because ultimately it's out of your control. Wishing you the best of luck at the scan.
I had brown discharge all throughout the first 12 weeks and also had a gush of bright red fresh blood one night which was extremely scary and I wouldn't call it spotting since it lasted around an hour (no clots). I rang 111 at 2 in the morning and had to wait for a call back. Then rang EPU in the morning as advised and they just told me to monitor it as I had already had a scan the week before. Even now I still don't know what was causing the brown discharge or red blood but I'm 18 weeks pregnant and haven't had any issues since 12 weeks. So try not to panic too much like I did and worry yourself sick.
