I have a full time remote job and am now 9 weeks pregnant. I am planning to take 15 months mat leave, starting from 6 months. I do not intend on telling my workplace about my pregnancy until I am at least 4 months. Now here's the thing. There have been a lot of structural changes, people leaving, and talks of investment needs. This is making me question the stability of my position in the company. It doesn't make sense to look for another job when I know I am pregnant. Do I tell my workplace about my pregnancy now so it secures my place, or just roll with it in hopes of still having a job once I take mat leave? Any HR mamas here that could offer some guidance?

You need 600 hours of work on the books, they cannot fire you once they know your pregnant. Sooner the better. Also I dont recommend 15 months, mat leave is a max at just above 600/week and that’s if you made good money. I worked 45/h week at 16/h and got 482$ biweekly. I got increase to 552$ because of my other job that got put into it. But as for work - tell them for sure.

I have read on LI, women who were on mat leave being fired from places like Google and Meta. I guess they can still do WFR during mat leave. Just not performance based termination of role.
