am i the only one?!

so i have a 6 month old who’s SUPER attached to me and i mean i’m with her 24/7 and take care of her and play with her 24/7 so it makes sense ya know? i’m her mom so ofc she’s attached to me and what i don’t like is when people tell me how bad it is and how she’ll suffer with this and like yes i know i don’t want her to suffer from separation anxiety bc i also went through that as a kid and it wasn’t fun so ofc im like seeing a therapist about it to be able to cope and work through my mom guilt and stuff when i wanna have some me time. what i really don’t like though is when people wanna carry her and she like cries with them but they don’t wanna give her back because they don’t see her often so they wanna spend all the time with her that day. like my MIL sees her like maybe once every 2-3 weeks bc like we have this issue with her only wanting us to go and not wanting to come to us so we try to fight it and stand our ground on it. she came over this sunday and started holding her but every time my daughter sees me she holds her arms out wanting to come with me and even starts crying because she wants me and i wanna grab her but she’s like “no your mom isn’t here today” (in spanish) and like i know she doesn’t see her often but it bothers me especially when my daughter literally sees me right in front of her like?? my daughter is smart she’s not dumb she isn’t going to fall for that does anyone else have a baby who’s attached to you and have this issue with everyone?? or would this bug anyone too?

I am currently on the same boat. My daughter has never left my side since she has been born... I work with her everyday and take care of her mostly all day whole my husband at work..... She crys when anyone takes her from me unless she warms up to them which usual takes an hour of being somewhere..... if anyone ever didn't give her back to me while she was crying I would cut them off immediately.... im not playing that..... she is my baby and I will do what I see fit.... when my baby is ready I will let her go but until then her mama knows what's best

I always say my daughter (who is now 3) lived in me for the first year of her life. And even now she wants me all the time. I luckily had her during the pandemic so I didn’t have to share but if I didn’t I don’t think I would have let people hold her. My hormonal response was to not let go of her. You could let your MIL know you’re happy for her to spend time with your family but that you will decide when your baby needs you and that you know what is best for her. Good luck! I also would not be able to deal with this like the previous comment and would get to a point if you try to keep my. Baby from me then no more visits or a short visit where you can hold her the entire hour and then leave. Your daughter will have aplenty of time to build relationships with others but right now all she needs (and wants) is you!

Girl I’m going something similar with my dad. He also refuses to come to us and they live half an hour away and have nowhere for baby to crawl at all.

Last time we went over my dad grabbed him out of my arms and he started crying. My dad says “you’re not socializing him enough.” And then acts super butt hurt that the baby wants me back….

At 6 months babies are starting to understand that there Can be distance between them and mom and that’s scary af for them. You’re not doing anything wrong, I think it’s messed up she would say that to her while you’re right there. But I get it keeping boundaries and calling certain people out is hard. 😓

It's similar here. My daughter will reach out for me all the time. It's worse when she sees me in the room with her. She likes to be up and walking around. If she cries, I'll pick her up, but when I can't, I try to explain that to her and have whoever near me while I finish. Then I will take her. (I do want her to learn some boundaries so I can get stuff done), but it's very hard on me emotionally. Like right now, I have to take her to Texas children's over cysts in her abdomen. Well, she did another ultrasound and screamed the whole time "ow" over and over and "mummy" a few times. Well, Grammy refused to give her to me to try and comfort her during. (I was on the verge of tears all day) All I wanted to do was hold my baby and comfort her like she was requesting. (I have an overbearing mother whom I live with) she cried and then passed out during the exam. My baby is now even more clingy after all that, and I don't blame her since she probably felt abandoned. (MRI on Halloween now daddy is going)

When the baby is crying I take him, do not care who is holding him or if that hurts their feelings. I have been like this from the very beginning and they are all used to it by now.

It does not matter if it separation anxiety or whatever else, no need to listen to the baby cry in someone else's arms unless you really need a break and ask for help yourself.

My mom can be overbearing too and I have no issue arguing with her about this. Grandmas also need to learn what boundaries are.

My son is just starting to go through this. I think he’s realizing he and I aren’t attached and I can walk away 😂 There’s nothing wrong with baby wanting you around other people; we’re their safe place! Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for that. And as for the holding… it’s very irritating when people don’t give baby back when they get upset/start crying 😑 idk why some don’t understand that they’re in distress and it’s best to hand them back to a parent

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
