Car seat

We have the ickle bubba 360 currently but have recently been made aware that it isn't tested to the extra standards. So this is going in my mums car for short journeys. We are going to get the Joie Steadi. Again ideally we would like one with a higher weight limit as our boy is a high centile, however as you said £300 is just not affordable right now. I've heard joie are supposed to be good that's why we are going for that one. And its very affordable! x

thank you, my boy is the same he is a big babba so we want something that will grow with him so we dont have to go out and buy another car seat a year or two down the line. How do you find out if the car seat has been through the extra standards as I would like to make sure any car seat we buy has been through this test too x

I'm pretty sure all joie ones are (as I believe they do their own extra testing in house). I joined the car seat safety UK group on Facebook, they have a pretty big waiting list for posts to be put up, but if you read through some other ones that people have posted and the comments you can get a good idea. Mostly they recommend axkid and britax products but they are soooo expensive! So I wanted one that would last at least a few years and then hopefully we can afford a longer lasting one 😂 I've heard the joie every stage is good too xx

I highly recommend joining Car Seat Safety UK facebook group and asking on there some of the car seats that are available to buy are poorly tested ☹️ my boy is big on his centiles too its £500 but i think im going to buy the BeSafe stretch as it will last him until 7 and he can safely go into a high back booster seat. Some of the admins do do payments plans were you can pay monthly for them x

I got her Joie Stages for my mum's car (good recommendations from that FB group) and that should last her good few years.

For a baby on the higher centiles a joie seat isn’t going to last you very long. Most only rear face until 18kg and after that you have to forward face using the cars seat belt. If baby is 9kg already I would be looking towards a 36kg seat. I know it’s a lot of money but if you bought a cheaper seat you would need to buy a new one anyway once he outgrows that one. Lots of places do payment plans so you can spread it over a couple of months if that helps? X

yeah i think thats what we will do as we can afford a more expensive seat but hes growing out of his at the worst time so we are thinking of doing a buy now pay later x

Isofix bases have a weight limit so if your wanting a long lasting seat your best off with a seat that tethers in.

Second joining car seat safety uk, they’ll guide you if you post child’s age, weight, gender and budget.

it’s not ideal but it’s definitely worth it rather than buying another new seat in a year or so! hope you get sorted X

I'd recommend and Axkid or besafe stretch for extended rear facing! As mentioned above the carseat safety uk facebook group is great for recommendations

our girl is big on centiles so we got the stretch. It's expensive but she loves it and will last ages. Definitely recommend
