Falling

LO doesn’t know how to fall safely while standing. When he loses balance instead of sitting down or falling forward to land on hands, he simply falls straight backwards. I think he is trust falling as he knows we are there to catch him. Is this normal? How do we break this habit? Can’t leave him there or he will hit his head.

I think you answered your own question in saying "he falls back cause he knows we're there to catch him"
You gotta let him fall to learn how important balancing on his own is. The first few falls will be sad but he'll learn and become an independent stander when you give him the chance. My pediatrician says they have to fall from at least 6 feet to really get hurt.

As Hannah said, we never did anything to teach our girl but she ALWAYS sits back when she falls now and I think it’s because she did just fall a few times and learned. She never got hurt and we of course comforted her when she fell lol
