Ladies who are pregnant via IVF - what have you been told regarding labour and dates etc??
Have you been told they won’t let you go over due date or they’ll induce early?
Midwife doesn’t seem to know much, consultant was happy to see how I went but not to go over 40 weeks and offered elective c section which I refused for now.
Currently 35 weeks!

In my case, they don’t seem too fussed about baby being IVF, but they have been in for extra growth scans just because it’s hospital policy. I’m with Croydon & 33 weeks if that’s helpful.
So far, the only concern from them is that my baby is big (I don’t have GD), so they may offer induction at 39 weeks & they may not like me to go beyond 40 weeks. IVF hasn’t come up in months.
I think you need to do research. I know that some docs will suggest the placenta can’t support the pregnancy beyond 40 weeks if it’s IVF, but I don’t know what that’s based on 🤷🏻.
I’d love to hear everyone else’s experiences because maybe these convos are coming my way?

Apart from the extra scans, they’ve not mentioned any difference for me regarding the birth.
Early on in the pregnancy I spoke to the consultant about my care plan (not my birth plan), and there’s a note on my Badger Notes for ‘low risk care if all scans normal at 32, 36, 39 weeks’.
So far, all normal, so I assume I can do this how I want.
Still waiting to discuss my actual birth plan though. I have my 36week scan this week, so I’ll ask about it.

My baby is IVF and they want to induce me on my due date. I have an appointment at 36 week with my consultant and will set dates then.
See I’ve not had or been offered extra growth scans at all, last scan was 20 weeks…
I’ve not got any more consultant appointments either, my last one was 34 weeks and he basically handed me back to midwife led care unless they are worried at any appts with them

With me, they considered low risk pregnancy so nothing changed. I have a few extra growth scans because I have a big baby, I will check again for GD 🤞.
I had an appointment at 20 weeks with a consultant and she informed me that she would recommend not going overdue as the baby could start compressing my liver. So I have another scan at 36 weeks (in a week time) and then an appointment, I would assume we will do a birth plan. I always heard that IVF babies usually grow big, but as well I was a big baby 🤷

IVF pregnancy - 36 weeks - all low risk:
We were told at 32 weeks that we’d be induced before due date. I do NOT want an induction so we pushed back hard and arranged a meeting with a consultant midwife, did loads of reading and our own research.
Basically, there is no evidence for inducing for IVF pregnancies with no risk factors. There’s a great book by Dr Sara Wickman which really put my mind at ease.
Since then, we’ve met with a different consultant who said “I’d never induce you just because of IVF”. There’s no evidence on it which is why there’s such differing views on it.

I’m with Croydon too and will have had two extra scans. One at 30 weeks and one this week at 34. I asked at my last apt and they usually don’t like you to go over due

I am 36 weeks and only had 1 consultant appointment, around week 24. Because the pregnancy is low risk overall, they treat it as any other pregnancy and never mentioned induction/additional checks other than a 36 week scan.

We’re IVF too but the reasons for being offered induction are because of my age (45) and diabetes, IVF came off my risk factors at the end of first trimester and haven’t been mentioned since. X
