Hi guys! I have been toying with the idea of doing an NCT class but it seems so expensive! Not sure if it costs different in different areas but my local course is £310 for 17 hours across three days. Are you planning on doing an NCT class? Or have you done one and can advise on whether it's worth it or not? Any advice would be much appreciated x x

I have booked one to start in November, that seems expensive. I’ve booked for Shrewsbury and it’s £269.
I know someone that booked and cancelled because the week before it was due to start they cancelled the first session and spread it out over the subsequent sessions, moving some to virtual so she wasn’t happy and found somewhere else x

I would check in with your midwife first to see if you have free nhs classes in your area cause NCT is £310 where I am and that just can't be justified for me. That being said, my auntie did them in 2020 (just before lockdown) and she loved them

I’m doing them now and quite enjoying it, but I think people mostly attend to make friends - you can get all of the info online easily

yeah I was looking at Shrewsbury and I am sure it said £250ish recently but now saying £310? Very odd! I will double-check

Thanks for the tips, guys! I will give it some thought x

You can also pay in instalments but they don’t advertise that but til
You get to the checkout! I done instalments. My husbands step mum is an NCT teacher and she very much said that it’s about making friends and building a support network locally with people going through the same thing as you. Friends who have been said they’ve really gained from doing the course. Xx

OK :) I think when I looked at the website for Shrewsbury sessions it said that it didn't accept installments which is odd! But will have another look :)

you’re right! Even the exact course I’m booked on has now gone up to £310, what a pain! My midwife did say they had a limited number of spaces for their free classes which are all virtual now so recommended if i could book somewhere separately to do that. She was relieved when i said I’d already booked. The lady i mentioned earlier booked a course called bump and baby which is held in Shrewsbury, just had a look and its £185, she is loving it so far. I have done with my first and really glad I did. They’ve been my village all these time and we are still in touch with all and really good friends with two couples 4 years later. In terms of information it is very interactive and fun, lots of group work however you can get most of it from books if you want to. Meeting other couples in the area with similar due date and networking is invaluable though. I was sceptical at first but it does work. Going through the same very intense experience brings people close. They will be there when you are feeding at 3 am and need an advice or just to vent
