Birth in one hospital, postnatal care in another

Hi guys, has anyone else given birth in one hospital but, due to home postcode, have to have postnatal appointments in another hospital?

I was discharged from Lister hospital in Stevenage yesterday after a c section and was told a midwife would call to see me today..I instead got a phone call from Bedford midwives today saying I had to come all the way to Bedford hospital tomorrow to be seen. This hospital is almost 40 mins from my house whereas the hospital I had a c section in is 13 mins away!

Obviously just having had a c section I'm way too uncomfortable to be in the car for 40 mins each way so hoping they will come out and see me instead.

I have asked my Postnatal care to be moved to the closer hospital but they can't due to postcode!

Anyone else been in a similar situation? And if yes what did you do?

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

They should definitely be seeing you at home post c-section and especially that soon after. I had all my appointments at home the first week after mine, one was arranged for in person but then the midwives changed it to a home visit because of my c-section. Can you call them and tell them you can't get to the hospital due to the car journey? It also sounds so frustrating you can't be seen by the closer hospital too, hope it gets sorted x

I have local knowledge of the area and had a different situation with the experience of these hospital trusts, LA boundaries.

I think you are going to have to stamp your feet a bit. Suggest that you could be seen at L&D as this is the same trust as Bedford.

Hope it gets sorted soon xxx

midwives came to the house to see me today, so all sorted! Thank you for your replies 😊

I had all my checkups at one hospital and delivered an hour down the road at another. I had to deliver at a hospital with a NICU and the one that I was being seen at didn’t have one.

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?
