Usually my baby is rocked to sleep and then transferred to his crib, and sleeps with a red glow lamp on and white noise. He usually wakes after 4ish hours, has a feed, and goes back to sleep.
Tonight I was able to settle him to sleep in his crib by laying next to him and soothing him with head strokes and gentle pats on the chest. We also tried turning the glow lamp off but keeping the white noise on.
He slept for almost 7 hours before his first wake. Now I’m wondering was it just a fluke or am I onto a winner? Did the fact he fell asleep in his crib help him to sleep for longer? Or the fact the room was dark?
Who knows but I’m celebrating it as a win!

I would definitely ditch the glow lamp and settling crib would have absolutely helped too. You could try continuing to settle in the crib and may find over the next few weeks as he gets used to falling asleep there that you can reduce the number of pats etc he needs to drift off and then may just fall asleep himself eventually x

I turn my red light off when he's asleep and notice that he doed wake up sooner if I forget x

Do you guys turn it back on to feed/ settle?

I would settle in the dark. Limits stimulation x
Yes I did turn it back on to feed otherwise I don’t think I’d be able to see what I’m doing or find his dummy in the dark 😂 made sure it’s on the red glow though so it’s not too stimulating, and turned it off once he was asleep

Babies don’t need light or mobiles it creates stimulation
Usually white noise or soft music and dark room is the best way for them to sleep
I never had a light on for my eldest always dark room and she’s always been an amazing sleeper same with my little one now and she’s a good sleeper
