Have had a private scan today and could see the baby(kind off) and quickly showed us the Heart beat but they said they can't listen to the heart beat. That was odd for me as I have been seeing loads you women saying they were showed and could hear the heart beat even earlier than that. This nurse sonographer told us that apparently it can harm the embryo and is not advised to be done before 12 weeks. Anyone had same experience in UK with a private scan?
Thanks

I had this with the nhs. I was having fortnightly scans before 12 weeks and they said it was too much heat that early on xx

I had the same with a scan at 9 weeks 6 days. Could see the heart beating on the screen but they couldn’t listen to it.Xx

i tjink people say they ‘heard the heartbeat’ but before 16 weeks its usually just seeing a flicker on the screen and seeing the heart beating rather than hearing it x

We just saw as well (at 9+1) didn't hear it.

Thanks everyone, thought it will be different when private. I'm sure some people were specific actually writing the heartbeats measure like 110bpm etc So I was just confused. Also looking at a picture that husband took and for some reason the CRL age is 8w1d but the GS shows at 7w should this worry me? Shouldn't they show similar or same age based on measurements?

We heard ours and saw the wave on the screen BUT it’s really just down to the individual place. Some are very hesitant as they don’t want to disappoint (both private or nhs). It also depends on the quality of the equipment, we had a huge 4d Siemens thing whereas my nhs scan looked like crappy teletext x

they can measure bpm based on the visual of the heart beating. We saw ours - but no sound. The monitor had a measure of 138bpm.

@Tara thanks. I don't think I will be going back to the same place. I wanted something, they did not say they can measure either and did not think i could ask
