After the current issues with the prep machine i’ve decided to stop using but we currently have a baby who will scream place down for s bottle at all different times so not much of a routine. Is it okay to make a bottle the kettle way then store in the fridge? I’ve seen a lot of confusing info online. (I know its only for a max of 24hrs but some sites say don’t do this?)

The nuby rapid cool is the best, it cools it down within seconds I don’t think your supposed to reheat the milk but don’t quote me on that

i’m not reheating the milk. It will be run under the hot tap to take the chill as NHS suggests, its so conflicting on there
Nuby is handy for imo older babies that sleep through the night longer and/or go longer between feeds. Mines currently 2/3 hours and can be even shorter sometimes so it wouldn’t be convenient for us😩

I’ve been storing mine in the fridge😊 I try and make enough for the day time and then make them up again for the evening so they’re not in there longer than 12 hours usually

ah yes thsts what I was thinking about doing. Do you run under the hot tap to take the chill off?

He doesn’t mind it cold to be honest but I do sometimes just pop it in warm water for a few minutes to take the chill off

I store mine in the fridge premake all the bottles max 3 at the time and warm them up when I need it. Definitely easier rather than making it now and then when babe is hungry. I have done the same thing with my first born no issues at all. As long as u use fresh boiled water when you make formula up. And do not reuse leftover formula you are fine

what Do you mean, sorry?

thank you so much! ☺️

We use coleif which is an absolute ball ache as you have to add it at least 30 mins before feeding so I pre make all our bottles for the day first thing in the morning and store in the fridge, then just before bed make all the bottles for the night time and then we just warm them as required. There’s no way we’d be able to do it otherwise and we’ve had no issues. Our LB also goes from nothing to starving so I feel your pain as we had to stop using our prep machine too! We did use the nuby for a bit so if you’re not using coleif etc it could be an option as it literally takes minutes if that! 😊

Out of interest what are your issues with the prep machine? Xxxx

a report came out week just gone that 85% of thr machines they tested did not get hot enough to kill the bacteria. I tested my machine which is only a few weeks old and couldn’t even reach 60oc so it isn’t hot enough! Xx

That’s what I do! I started making each one afresh but she screams the place down so I pre-make them now and store in fridge for 24hrs. So much quicker to warm them when needed.

I do this and haven't had any issues.
Will make up 3 bottles at a time. Normally in morning, and then 3 for nighttime. I let them cool down before I put them in the fridge, sometimes I will cool quickly with cold tap water.
To heat up I use a bottle warmer or jug of boiling water.

The nuby rapid cool is a lifesaver esp for the night feeds

Is it possible to pour appropriate amount of boiled water in to bottles and then just add powder and mix to feed?? I don't know if this is allowed but wondering for when I finish up breast feeding 🤔

It’s called the “fridge method” it’s where you use freshly boiled hot water and then you put the bottles straight into the fridge. The bottles last 24 hours. You can then microwave to warm up milk as long as your bottles are microwave safe.

but then you’re not killing bacteria as the water is no longer 70oc surely?

Thanks all. I discovered the hot shot method with nuby so you don’t have to re sterilise after 1 use - will be trying that with my little one as well as getting more nuby to use between at night
Thank you!

absolutely scarily incorrect - formula like any substance carries bacteria and using cold water has never been a verified way of making bottles - being lucky doesn’t make it less dangerous.
Using boiled water has been the correct method for decades - this is how my parents did this over 25 years ago!
Each to their own yes but spreading incorrect information on the bacteria in formula no

tried my nuby for first time last night and I am totally converted! Buying more today to suit my hungry little one but my goodness from the kettled being boiled to the bottle ready all in all took minutes.
So impressed

honestly it’s the best thing and works great for me !

We do a really weird method but honestly it works 😂 basically after many a scientific experiment… we discovered that 2oz of room temp water mixed with 3oz boiled water very quickly made 70degrees (this is for a 5oz feed). So our sterilised bottles sit there with 2oz of cooled kettle water in until we’re ready to boil the kettle and make up a fresh feed. Then we fill up the room temp water with boiled water and add in the formula… bacteria killed ✅ then cool it by plonking it in a small bowl of cold water.
Weird I know. But works! No one has time to wait 30 mins for a kettle to cool 🙄

Boil water, let cool and store.
Baby is hungry, boil a tiny amount of water in kettle, boils under 2 minutes.
Use a tiny amount of it to mix formula, then add the cooled down boiled water to top up to the required amount baby drinks.
You can still use a flask if needed instead of boiling kettle.
