Nuby rapid cool hot shot method

Hello, i recently started using the NUBY rapid cool flask thingy and i wanna do the hot shot method as i feel like making the formula straight in the flask doesn’t kill the bacteria in the formula as it cools down super quick.

so i was just wondering, if i make a 5oz bottle, how many ounces would i need to make for the hot shot?

or

can i make the full bottle in the bottle that’s ill be feeding him with and then put the formula in the rapid cool to cool down and then back in the bottle?

Thanks in advance.

So I do it this way aswell with the hot shot. I do 1oz boiling water and mix with the formula to kill off bacteria. Then use the nuby rapid cool for the remaining water (4oz) to cool it down and then add to the bottle.

We have done the other way where we mix formula with the full 5oz boiling water in the bottle then added to the nuby rapid cool but then it needs to be washed and sterilised before another bottle so it's not good for on the go this way.

But either way works. Hope that helps? X

you’re a lifesaver with helping me figure out the oz’s! that’s the one thing i’m not great at is maths! now it’s time to google how many ml’s in an ounce so i can measure using my MAM lid!! thank you!!

Avatar

The MAM lid does show both ml and oz but 1 oz is 30ml - we're using these bottles also.

I've been having to do the math also and got it stuck in the brain now lol

Once baby gets to like 7/8oz in the big bottles you may need to up the hot shot to like 1.5oz/2oz to mix better but we're way off that yet with the newborns.

you’re an absolute star! thank you so much! so i’m assuming when he reaches 6oz, do i keep the hot shot at 1oz?

i feel like im being dumb but im so new to being a mum and recently got gifted the rapid cool! can’t wait to use it properly and get used to it

also, off topic but kinda on topic, im using the cold water method to sterilise it right now but when i return home can i use a steam steriliser for the rapid cool or try and keep using the cold water method when im home!

sorry for all the questions!

so with 6oz I'd up the hot shot to 1.5/2oz to fully cover the formula and kill the bacteria.

It's all good, I'm a new mum too but almost a month in and starting to get the hang of it.

I only cold water sterilise as I use the Milton cold water thing so I don't know about steaming it to sterilise I'm afraid. But the nuby does have a sterilising guide on the instructions so that should help. I think the cold water way is just quicker and easier personally but it's whatever suits you and your baby x

I make the bottle I'm feeding from with hot water, swirl it to mix the formula then pour it into the cool flask.

Question, I am looking to buy one, how are they sterilised? I’ve read you can’t use steam on the digital lids…

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Did I overreact?

I have had 3 c sections, recently had a wisdom teeth removal (4) to be exact and all my mom did was visit the day BEFORE and then she only sent 1 text. She has NEVER spent one full day with me and doesn’t acknowledge my achievements much. She just isn’t there when I need her to be. She claims she’s always working but she lives like 7 minutes away! she can come help with the kids so my husband can have break? we don’t ask her for much and she only sees the kids 1-2 a month. She also didn’t visit with my last c section. I told her that she should’ve gotten the abortion when she had the chance with me because why would you have me and neglect me emotionally? To not actually give me a present father in my life. I am very angry all she does is disappoint me. She only wants to show up for certain people in the family and I just want to grab her and shake her and ask her why can’t she be a good present mother?
