My 2 month old will have lots of short breastfeeds during the day (26 today so far).
Does anyone else’s baby do this? We haven’t given her a dummy, but my husband thinks it will help reduce the snacking / short comfort feeds. Do dummies help?
I’d love to reduce the number of feeds and increase the duration of feeds. Her feeding pattern makes it quite hard for anyone else to look after her (she will take a bottle of expressed milk but it’s hard to advise grandparents how much to give her).
Our longest feed today was about 35 minutes, our shortest was 2 minutes. She also feeds mid contact nap and will go back to sleep nursing.

I’d love to know how you get your Bubba to sleep for periods that long during the day. My 8 week old will sleep for maybe 30 minutes at a time

I’m sure that must be a comfort thing! Unless it’s cluster feeding, is this a one off or is it always like this? Your poor nipples?! 🥹🥹🥹
We use a dummy if he’s fussing or upset when I’ve done a full feed so I know he’s not hungry… maybe give it a go and see what happens? Took a few different dummy shapes for us to know which one our 2 month old likes!

Dummies do help heaps as my midwife advised me to use dummies as bub was doing the same thing

I've used a dummy, which he doesn't take all the time but some naps will fuss until he gets it. He likes the jollypop ones like the hospitals use but 3 month version as it matches my nipple size.
Latch is good? At 8 weeks my bub feeds during the day maybe 1-2 per wake period and at night will do more of the comfort sucking but not as snacks as that. If you are willing try a dummy. It took a little bit to get used to it but he will cry if he's really hungry and not take the dummy.

these were contact naps, she’ll stir a few times mid nap and feed back to sleep. If I didn’t nurse her back to sleep she would have woken up much earlier. When she’s slept in the bassinet she sleeps for much shorter durations, maybe 20 - 30 minutes.

it’s always like this. She naps really well so long as she’s able to feed / suck midway through the nap! What dummy do you recommend? ☺️

that’s good to know! Which one do you use?

yes, no problem with breastfeeding or latch. She’s a really good feeder, just loves to comfort suckle. I’ll try the Jollypop dummies and see if that helps.

she loves being close to you I’m sure! Ive definitely noticed if I keep holding ours after a feed, he will keep doing the rooting reflex and show signs of feeding/wanting to suck even if we’ve done a full feed. So I know it’s for comfort, but if I keep feeding him he gets over full and vomits so I’ve learnt not to! I usually pass him to my husband or pop him down to play when that happens because otherwise I would be feeding 24/7.
Ours seems to like the flatter dummy shape rather than the cherry shape. I think it’s a Phillips Avent style, maybe ultra air?

my 8weeks old has uninterrupted naps from half an hour to 1,5/2 hours, and at night he used to sleep 4 and up to 6 hours in a row with no problem, (at 8 weeks they have some growing and changing, so his night schedule is a bit less relaxed than before, but getting there again 🤞🏼)
Overall for day and night good sleep, my secret is to keep him busy and entertained right after the daytime feeds, so he’ll have at least two good naps and a good night of sleep waking up only once (for night time I introduced almost daily routine: feed, entertainment for at least half an hour, 5/10 minutes bath, another good feed, sleep through for at least 4 hours 😇)
