Cervical check

Has anyone checked this themselves at home? To see if it’s low or open at all? I’ve read a little about it but haven’t checked myself yet just wondered if anyone has…
I know cervical dilation doesn’t necessarily mean labour etc that’s why I’ll decline checks by the midwife but I’m more intrigued to just know if I am dilated at all, or not..

Just curious why you would decline from a midwife but do it yourself? X

No, I haven't and would avoid doing this. Not sure it would be easy to do this yourself at home, may do more harm than good and you may not actually know what you're feeling. Not sure why you would decline checks from the midwife who is trained to do this but would consider doing this yourself at home??

Really not certain how you'd do this yourself🤷🏼‍♀️ I can barely get a water sample (massive baby bump in the way) for my midwife check ups, let alone attempt to do my own cervical checks.

Having to go into hospital, feeling uncomfortable & increased of infection mainly x

It was from reading this that I just wondered really!

Your community midwife is usually the one who would do any cervical checks/sweeps.
Feeling uncomfortable would happen if you were to do it yourself and also the risk of infection would be the same too...

I probably would avoid this to be perfectly honest but I understand the curiosity of knowing how dilated you are!

I could never use a tampon because I’m too squeamish, nevermind self checking the cervix 😅 maybe if you feel comfortable to go in that far yourself then go for it! You know your body best mama x

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
