I am super nervous for tomorrow, I have to take my 3 hour glucose test. I was high for my one house but they never told me that I needed to fast. Any recommendations??

I failed my first 1 hour test, as it was a non-fasting one, I ate an omelet and also had an extremely stressful morning (spikes glucose as well). For the 3 hour one, I definitely fasted and avoided all carbs the night before. Then lots of water before and during the test, and I walked about half hour after each blood draw (whatever the time I had in between basically). Everything came back great, at the lowest range of the norm. Hope that helps and best of luck!

Thank you so much of the advice!! I definitely have been trying to drink lots of water today too help!

Do that in the morning as well 🙌 And whatever exercise you can master, after you drink the solution and after each blood draw, it helps the body to process the glucose out of your blood !

Hey girl heeey! I also failed my 1HR glucose test but passed the second perfectly. I agree with what Alina said— lots of water (they said I couldn’t eat or drink during the test) I did eat carbs the night before with a healthy serving of veg, but I also barely failed the 1st test so maybe avoid it just to be sure. Try and walk as much as you can— realistically I didn’t walk as much as I would’ve liked to. No eating after 12AM the night before the test! Most of all, relax and don’t be too hard on yourself. Just think this is being done to ensure the safety of you and your new bundle of joy! Praying for the best results for ya! 🫶🏾

I ended up getting diagnosed with GD after the 3 hour test. You're not actually supposed to move around much after drinking the sugary drink they give you. The idea is to see how your body handles the glucose naturally to see if it's going to be a problem for you and your baby. If you're high for 2 out of 4 of the blood draws, you have GD. I was over for my first one, fine on two others, and literally went over by one point on one! But I had an HbA1c of 5.6 earlier this year which already borderline pre-diabetic. That plus being over 25 yrs old, higher BMI, and a person of color all added extra risk factors which is why I was tested at 12 weeks instead of 24. All that said, even if you are diagnosed, it's not your fault. It can happen to anyone with or without risk factors, and your health care team will be there to support and guide you so you can still have a healthy pregnancy. Hoping the best for you. 💕

My first blood test back in May came back like 1-2 points over but I wasn’t told to fast either. And Dude I finally took my glucose test and fasted for the time I was supposed to and my glucose was over by 1-2 points and then it was normal after the couple hours after I had drank my drink thing yet they still want me to test again. I’m not going to strictly because this most recent blood test just showed 3 elevated levels of something but looking it up it says they can be in response to your body fighting an infection or virus which my son and I literally just had. Which also looking it up your glucose can be raised from a few varying factors.
