So had had my baby on Saturday, came home Monday. The delivery was hard and now everything hurts. From the moment he was born, we have had visitors and I love showing off my new little bean but now I realized I didn’t rest in the hospital the way I should have. I came home on about 4-5 hours of broken sleep and have taken one 2.5-3 hr nap since being home. Now all I can do is stare at the baby cause I’m worried about him rolling to his side while he sleeps (which he has been doing) and I’m just terrified. He also came at 37 weeks with induction and my goal was to breast feed him but he hasn’t figured out how to latch. So I’ve been pumping and substituting with formula. I feel like I’m not doing enough. My husband is an amazing dad and giving me so much support, but no matter what I feel like I’m making him do too much. I’ve cried for no reason other than hormones and random emotions a few times already and that has made me feel even more exhausted which in turn makes me wanna cry more. It’s only been a few days and I feel all of this already. Does anyone have anything they can share that might help?

Rest mama! It's so much at one time. Truly sleep when your bean sleeps. Give yourself some grace. No matter how baby was born you did an amazing thing. My daughter is 8 months old and has been a side sleeper from day 1. We put a rolled up muslin blanket behind her so she could have that little bit of support and when she was done somehow she'd scoot off of it.we Never put it close to her face, and I know, I know! They aren't supposed to have anything in the crib with them but she slept all night because she was happy. My first, hubby's 3rd. Listen to your instincts, they are usually right about your little one. Dont forget to take care of you in all of this too! Without a healthy mama we don't have a happy, cared for baby

The first week, including the hospital stay, I had maybe like 6-7 hours total. I ran completely on adrenaline and stayed awake when visitors came by rather than nap. The anxiety for me was definitely part of the hormone shift and it lasted maybe another week or so along with swollen legs and night sweats. My LO also had lost a pound after leaving the hospital and I never knew how difficult starting milk production would be and had to attempt to feed every 1.5 hours with maybe 30 minutes taking up attempts to latch. It’s rough and I feel like it’s normal to feel as if you’re not doing enough. Honestly I think that first week while you’re establishing a supply that is enough work itself!
My advice is to ask your husband to help watch baby at night to keep him from rolling which should stop at some point in the first few weeks. I split shifts with my husband after telling him I couldn’t do the no sleep thing anymore. Hopefully this helps calm the nerves a bit for you and it gets better!!

Also, pumping and bottles is OK! Latching itself is a challenge. I would try a couple times throughout the day to latch and give it up to 30 minutes to try before a bottle and pump. If you’re worried about baby’s latch you can always visit a lactation consultant. If baby is fed, changed, and sleeping you are doing wonderfully! Hang in there ❤️

It's rough, but it really does get better but you need to give yourself time to rest. Take the support you have and take some rest because it doesn't help you to be stressed. A fed baby is a happy baby no matter how it happens. It'll be hard to have a change in how you planned but don't let it get to you. If you don't want to give up there's always lactation groups and consultants. There are other mamas going through the same thing to talk to through the journey. But if it's too much mentally know that it's okay to not continue because your baby is being taken care of no matter what.
I went through the latch problem, and I went through the underproducion problem.I know how it feels to not feel like you're doing enough, but I had to do what was best for me and my munchkin alike.
You got this mama!

I will say this…both my boys had trouble latching on so I had to pump with both. With my first son, I wasn’t producing enough milk so I was also using formula. That stressed me and made me sad. I was like the one thing I’m supposed to be able to do and I can’t. I couldn’t supply milk for my baby. Thankfully my mom was there and told me as long as the baby was eating everything would be fine. My second baby was born 6mo after the formula one turned one. So now I had two under two. When I came home, I went right back into trying to lift my one year old (out of tub and into and out of high chair) I had completely forgotten that the doctor told me not to lift a certain amount of weight for a time (which included the one yr old) So I ended up a little sore for a few days. But it did eventually go away. Also, this second baby cried so much for EVERYTHING! I was so overwhelmed, I would just cry while changing poopy diapers at 3 in the morning…it does get better though

Feel you
I would prefer to talk then type! It’s usually same for all
Believe me

Hugs mama!❤️ You are doing amazing! You did a miraculous thing creating/growing/delivering a baby! Your body is just starting to heal and emotions can be a rollercoaster! You have to remember your motherhood journey may not look like others and that's ok! Everyone has different experiences and guess what... Your sweet baby has only had a mom for a few days so far and has nothing else to compare to so you will always be the best mom your baby has ever experienced. PS- give yourself credit, you kept a baby alive that many days and know you can make it that long to be able to do it again!
My 1st baby my mother-in-law came for the first week and told me I was doing everything wrong(even opened a yogurt wrong🤦). I was so stressed out that getting baby to latch was more than I could handle, I was working full time and knew I'd be pumping eventually and just started from the beginning. I turned pump sessions into "me time" to read and relax while hubby fed baby. He loved being able to help that way

Postpartum is so real! ❤️

It's totally normal for this all!! Look up lactation specialists in ur area or call hospital, wic office, ur doctor office to see if they can refer u. Ur insurance will cover like 10 or so visits, so use it!! I did with my 2nd bc I didn't know on 1st. I had to supplement with both bc I simply didn't make enough. 3ozs every 3 hrs and I used the next time plus needed more. It sucks to think it would be easy but ppl don't tell u the truth. Also, sleep when baby does until its over a month old, even into 2 months. Get a monitor if u don't already and use that at night to help u look at baby and how sleeping instead of having to get up and look each time. I used my monitor until my 1st was over a 1yr old and definitely when sick. I have a double one now that can see both boys when sleeping. If u need to talk or anything feel free to message me. Also ur relationship may be strained but just know u will work it out. It's a parenting change and clash for u both but ull get through it. Crying is normal
Thank you all so much I definitely started crying just from the love and support. I’ve always been the kind of person to be able to do it myself and while my husband is amazing and doing so well in supporting me while I’m having all these big feelings, I honestly don’t know what I would do without all the family support we are getting.

- Sleep. Sleep. Sleep especially because your baby can take formula. One of those visitors can watch baby while you nap. Get some rest so your can be stable for you and that baby. You need it. You’re still in recovery.

I feel like I could have written this myself.. word for word… if ever you need a chat I’m here x
