Negative comments

I’m so over getting negative comments, I’m only 6 weeks so few people know. When people ask me how I’m feeling I will usually respond with how tired and nauseous I am. Every time without a doubt they respond with “just wait it will get worse” “just wait until you’re farther along” “wait until the baby is here” it’s never advice or comforting words. I’ve started lying and saying I feel fine because I don’t want to hear about how much worse it will get for me.

People are going to have opinions about your journey and you have to take it with a grain of salt

Avatar

I would ignore them and if you can’t ignore them just stop telling them the truth about how you feel. Everyone has different experiences.

I just stopped talking to people.

Even if you said you're feeling great, people would say the same. Like, can't they say something like, don't worry, it'll pass in a few weeks, or just wow, I'm sorry to hear that?

Avatar

People are annoying and will have opinion on everything as annoying as it is try to ignore it people made me feel so rubbish about my second saying oh your second is always hard if you first was good your second is going to be a nightmare and he’s three months and a happy little boy

Avatar

9-12 weeks was the hardest for me because the hormones spike and the sickness is nearly inevitable. However, the second trimester I was vacationing once every two weeks almost, even went snorkeling in key west one weekend in June. Ignore what people say, every pregnancy is different!! Keep your head up mama! You have a VERY FUN journey ahead of you!!

Just wait until you see your baby’s first smile 😊💗
Just wait until they say mamma for the first time 😍
Just wait until you see them taking their first steps 🥹

I often sarcastically respond with, ‘oh thank you, that’s helpful’ which often makes them feel awkward and they think twice next time! Unfortunately you will always get the individuals who will comment on every parenting decision you make - just know, there is no perfect parent so you do what you feel is best, and thank them for their unsolicited advice!

Avatar

This is a good time to practice smiling and nodding, and ignoring whatever they say. The negative comments and unwanted advice will continue even after baby is here. I’m sure you will do great

So theyre not entirely wrong, but I do agree it’s tiring when people are constantly focusing on the negatives. Pregnancy and being a mum is super hard. But it’s super rewarding too!!! There are so many milestones and happy moments ahead of you, scans, baby movements, meeting your baby for the first time! And SO many more when theyre growing up. Take it with a pinch of salt, just reply with ‘but it’ll be so worth it!’ Because it will be! Good luck!

Ignore them lovely! I’m 37 weeks and SUPER uncomfortable but it’s so much better than the first trimester! Weeks 6-12 was awful for me with sickness, tiredness and just feeling sluggish. I remember everyone saying ‘wait till your third trimester, it gets even worse’, and I used to get so upset and cried almost every day cause I thought my whole pregnancy would be horrible. I can tell you that it is not true. Every pregnancy is different, but from my experience the first trimester was the worst for me. Hope you start to feel better soon, I feel for you! You’ve got this🤍

Avatar

I feel this, it’s always women who do it as well. You just want to hear something nice and reassuring, and most of the time you’re met with backhanded comments. Like we get it, being a mom isn’t easy. Why make it harder

Avatar

That sucks I’m sorry you don’t have the most supportive system! My family kept telling me it would get better! And even though it was annoying it was still better than hearing it would get worst! And if you can you should ask about zofran it’s the only thing that got me away from the toilet!!!

Avatar

I had a lot of this too, I think we all do at some point unfortunately 😞

Tired is tired and nothing like “oh just wait” is gonna make you feel better about how you feel right now. Like thanks Brenda in accounting but your not me so F*** off 😂

Best thing I did to cope with negativity was to lie to all them and then come on here and rant or talk to people that are actually supportive.

At the end of the day, pregnancy, birth and motherhood can be tough in all stages however, you will show them that you are kicking ass at this! xx

Avatar

People can be so judgmental. Second trimester is easier at least in my experience. It is a rough road but definitely worth the little putter patters. You got this

Avatar

Even if it does get worse (unfortunately it usually does before it gets better) it’s just a season and IT WILL END! Then when it’s all over you’ll get a sweet baby and your instincts will kick in and it will be easier than you expect. People just want to feel superior by making other people miserable and it makes no sense

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
