Mine looked like wallpaper paste and tasted like pear drop sweets lol wasn't bad at all tbh

The drink I found was ok to start, orange flavour but after a while had an odd after taste and I had to sip it over 10 minutes!
The wait time felt quite long as it was a blood test on arrival, drink the drink then start an hours timer then have another blood test, do another hour timer then another blood test! The thing I found the hardest was not being able to drink from 10pm till after the test, they found it really hard to find a vein I ended up having to having blood taken from my hands as thats the only place she could get a visible vein!
Take a good book or headphones etc. Hope you get on ok :)

I’ve got mine tomorrow morning too. I’m just dreading not being able to eat until 11.30am 😩 I tend to not feel well when I don’t eat x

Thank you! I’m hoping it’s not too bad, I’ve got to fast from midnight and only have water sips until my appointment is done, dreading not being able to have breakfast, as soon as I wake up it’s all I think of😂

I was anxious too as people sort of scare mongered me tbh! I had a friend tell me it was this really big thick drink you have to down but it's not like that at all. They give you time slot so it's not like you have tk down it all in one at all. It's thick but tasty and not hard to swallow. It's not that thick in all honesty! And it's small...
I agree the thing I was most worried about was not eating and drinking as it does hit you harder when pregnant doesn't it, but in some ways I think because of the nerves it slightly curbed my appetite anyway haha

Just try and wake up late in the morning if you can!

I had mine done but was not given any drink, I Don't know if am missing something though..I had 10hours fasting and the blood was taken, that's it..

i almost threw up, mine tasted like cardboard but also like it belonged in a hummingbird feeder it was so sugary and syrupy. it was quite a lot to drink, too, but i had 5 minutes to drink it. i took less than that to drink it though, i chugged it in 3 or 4 separate moments to get it over with

you should have a had a drink or something with glucose in to see how your body reacts to the glucose!

I had mine last week, it was a gloopy drink but not much flavour. Make sure you swirl it between each sip especially towards the end, mine was thiiiick! I was expecting to have a positive result too for the same reasons but my results came back normal which surprised me based on how I felt the rest of the day but probably because I'm not used to that much sugar. Make sure you take a book with you, those 2 hours go slooooow! Good luck you'll be OK :) x

Oh and you can drink water too, just plain water no squash during the 2hrs so take a bottle or you'll be thirsty! X

Good luck ! It's not too bad-I found fasting the worst part, especially when they tell you to sit in the waiting area and you're opposite Costa coffee craving cake lol 😅

I didn't like the drink but think it was more the fact I had it at 8:20am and I'm not a sweet fan until after lunch! The sitting around almost killed me, I'd downloaded loads of episodes of potomac housewives but the chairs were horrendously uncomfortable! I had mine at 22 weeks and have another at 28 weeks, really not looking forward to doing it all over again!

I’ve had the first round of bloods and the drink, it was a sugary pear/apple flavored, next round of bloods at 11 then hopefully get my results tomorrow

Honestly i didn’t mind the drink at first then it became so sickly sweet for me by the end. About 20 mins after I went really faint, sweaty hot and thought I was going to vomit I had to lie down on a bed. It passed within 5 mins and I was fine after. Then after the 2nd time I had my blood taken I had the same feeling about 20 mins later, so potentially for me the combination of fasting + bloods taken + 50g of sugar in one go didn’t agree with me! But so many people say it’s nothing so I don’t know why I reacted like that 🫠 my result was negative for GD 🤷🏼‍♀️

The drink was absolutely fine, that was the nice part 🤣 I ended up feeling pretty unwell/ faint, so they let me lie down in the midwife room for the last hour. Glad it’s done now, just praying it comes back negative for diabetes!

Mine was like a sweetened orange juice. Not great, but not too bad either. I was more bored than anything because I didn't realise how long Id have to wait. So take a good book or podcast.

mine literally saids i can have black coffee black tea without sugar and i can drink water tbh ngl but i cant drink water lol x

I had mine today and no drink given either. Just 10 hours fasting and only water

I had mine yesterday and it was fine - it was a very sugary syrup like drink and I was told to take lots of water after having it. The worst bit was the long wait so make sure you take something with you to do!

I was very anxious for mine and actually ended up getting sent home because I passed out after my first blood test 😂 had to monitor my blood sugars 4 times a day for 5 days instead!

! I had mine through this morning, no diabetes, woohoo! But turns out I’m anaemic, in a weird way I’m happy about that, as I’m hoping iron tablets will make me feel like a brand new woman 🙈🤞

My midwife called me two days after the test with the results - luckily no diabetes! Found out I’m anaemic though whcih hopefully explains some of the tiredness and restless legs!

how long did yours take to come back and in what format? Is it a letter or a phonecall?

I’ve heard nothing yet, the hospital told me if I had it I would find out today but if I heard nothing then no news, is good news

I heard the next morning, on my hospital app. I think it’s an app specific to my hospital but it’s pretty good! I know all these things vary from trust to trust though x

not a peep! I keep checking my BadgerNotes app and there’s nothing on there either. I’m going to assume I don’t have it. Have you?x
