Last minute advice for labor? Please šŸ™

39 weeks today and finally dilated 1 cm. Dr. Will do a membrane sweep next week if baby hasn’t arrived yet. I’m really anxious knowing she’ll be born within the next week or so. Dr. would’ve done a membrane sweep at todays appointment but I declined out of fear of labor.

I feel ready to not be pregnant anymore but I feel like I’m not ready to give birth. I don’t know what it’s going to feel like and the fear of that pain is really giving me crazy anxiety. How do you prepare for this? How do you calm down? I know women have done this since the beginning of time and our bodies are programmed to do this but I feel like I can’t do this. I’m so scared šŸ˜”

Girl it’s almost impossible to calm down once you’re scared lol I was terrified. I was induced yesterday morning and gave birth last night. It was my second pregnancy but I was still scared like It was new to me lol & it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. It went really well and once baby is here it’s all worth it anyway! You got this! šŸ’•šŸ’•

Girl you got this! I had so much anxiety also I was due on the 25 but he randomly came on the 14th and I felt so anxious and scared but I kept telling myself I can do this and I was dying to see my baby boy so I pushed myself. Our body’s are definitely made for this. Get that epidural you won’t regret it! I was gonna go natural but I was like no give me that epidural and it is all so worth it. You will be so relieved and excited. Yet my vagina hurt so bad but every time I see my baby I get so happy and everything is all worth it once you see your little one.

Our bodies are made for this. The stitches hurt worse than giving birth naturally with no meds.

I was the exact same way! When my water broke ( i wasn’t sure if it was actually my water or urine) I hesitated to call my ob cause I didn’t want to face the reality of possibly giving birth that day. I kept telling myself I just peed my pants but nope when I went in it was definitely my water that broke. When they told me they were gonna keep me cause I WAS gonna give birth soon, I cried! And not out of excitement but out of fear! My advice would be to not let fear be the thing that drives you. Don’t let it rob you of that moment. If I could go back in time that’s what I would tell myself. I constantly kept thinking of what could go wrong and how intense the pain would be. I cried for every needle, every check up. But try to think of all the things that can go RIGHT. Yes, the whole process is intense but your body can do it. And your mind can do it too. Meditate in prayer, stay in the present, it goes by faster than you think. Soon you’ll have your baby in your arms ā¤ļø

Oh no I’m sorry! I don’t even know what you feel like I got one little stitch and I feel like it’s something crazy. It’s only been 5 days for me and I always think to myself is it healing right? I do get itchy down there sometimes even if it’s only been 5 days 😫

I had bad birth anxiety and I’d try to redirect it to how much relief I’d feel when it was over. I’m on the other side now, and I try to appreciate that it’s over šŸ˜‚ If you’re afraid of pain, definitely opt for the epidural if you can. I was surprised by how normal/fine I felt in-between contractions, if that offers any peace haha.. like you’re still in control.

Some things that helped me get through my induction:
-BREATHE and moan through the pain. Just let everything go and keep reminding yourself to relax and let go of all the tension that builds up.
-Be open to the epidural. I didn’t really want it but at 7cm I hit a wall, and it was the best choice to just get it.
- Ask questions every time the doc suggests an intervention. Make sure you’re comfortable before saying yes - you’re in control.
- If the pain starts in, try the laughing gas. It’s the Knut only thing that got me to 7cm before I begged for the epidural.

Try to stay calm and focused on the excitement of finally meeting your baby!
