So a bit of a back story my baby’s father broke up with me a few weeks ago and I had to move to be with my family and this meant leaving the state.
I’m approaching giving birth and he asks me when I’m giving birth so he can be there.
I told him my due date but he will not be in the delivery room, not when I’m so vulnerable and we’re not together it’s a time that I need to focus and it would just make me feel uncomfortable because we’re just not in a relationship.
He’s calling me bitter and that I’m so wrong for keeping him in the waiting room. When I did say he can see him after he’s born in the nursery if he wants. Is this a bad call? Should I just let him in the delivery room?

While I understand that he wants to witness the birth of his child, if he makes you uncomfortable, then you have to do whatever you can to protect your peace. If you guys can come to an understanding ahead of time, that would be awesome, but you are not wrong for feeling uncomfortable since you two are no longer a couple. However, I hope you have a support system with you to go through labor and delivery. Ask him why he wants to be there. What parts exactly? Does he want to give support during labor and contractions? Does he want to be there as an advocate of the hospital has to make a medical decision? Does he want to cut the cord? Does he want to see his baby immediately and not after they're cleaned up? Try to get his reasoning so that you guys could talk about it.
thank you for this! I have my mom and my brothers fiancé that will be there for me during the delivery thankfully. I’m hoping he’ll understand and just be cordial.

If it’s both of your first child , I think you’re kind of robbing him of the experience of witnessing his child being born .. don’t get me wrong I fully understand your sentiments I just think you should put your feelings aside for this. As long as you have another person in the room for support maybe that’ll ease your uncomfortability

Can you compromise? Like maybe he’s in the room but he doesn’t get to have the “house view”? He can stand by your head or something. Birth is so vulnerable! I also think it’s important for him to be there if he wants to be.
I told him he can be there but he can’t watch the full process but he is also the type of guy to say he’ll do things then make up reasons why he can’t show up last minute so we will see if he actually follows through 🙄

How you feel during labor is very important. If you are not comfortable with him, or anyone else, or even if you were still together, don't let him be in the room. This could affect the delivery. the only thing that you need to focus on is your labor and your delivery.
Don't let others pressure you into doing something that you are not comfortable with. This isn't about him and absolutely nobody else will have to deal with the situation the same way you will have to.

You should do nothing that makes you uncomfortable. You should respect your own boundaries. He chose to leave and with that comes natural consequences. This is one of them.

No you shouldn’t “just” let him in the delivery room. It’s not a “just”. It’s a big deal. You should do what you feel most comfortable with. You don’t owe him anything. 🤍
I really needed this 😭 because honestly it is his baby but he’s not birthing him and I’m not taking away from him seeing him he can when he’s here. I just feel like he gave up his privilege of being there when he just up and ended things.

The delivery room is mostly about the mother, if we’re honest. It’s about the comfort of the mother, as she’s the one bringing the child into the world. The baby has no idea what’s going on or who any of the people in the room even are 😂 you allowing the father to be in the room would be something that you’re doing for HIM. He’s definitely not entitled to it. I don’t even think husbands are entitled to it, if a woman genuinely doesn’t want him there (some women prefer to be surrounded by female friends or family). 100% your call!
