I'm married but never changed my surname due to covid/delays/being pregnant. Now that it's come time to change my name, I'm not sure I want to. But I so desperately want to have the same name as my daughter. Do I change my name to be the same as my daughter, or shall I double barrel my daughters name to include mine?

It’s totally your and your partner’s choice. My son has my husband’s last name. I kept mine, it’s short and nice 4 letters last name while my husband has a long and tad cumbersome last name.

I've been married for over 6 years and just haven't gotten around to changing my last name. All my kids have my husband's last name. At some point I'll get around to changing my name lol

I’m Mexican, and we technically keep our maiden last names even after marriage and our baby has both our last names, but I feel like it’s more of a thing we do in Mexico
But it is yalls choice and however you feel comfortable

Do whatever it feels better for you. I’m not married and even if I was I wouldn’t change my surname. My daughter has my partner surname and I don’t really care, it’s not important to me (probably because in Italy women keep their surname after marriage and children usually take their father’s surname).

My kids have both of our surnames and I didn’t want to change my surname because it was gonna be too much of a hassle to change documents and everything.

I couldn't wait to change my name and be a proper family. We all have the same surname and I love it 🥰. You have to be comfortable though. Xx

We double barreled our surnames when we married. It was important to me that we all have the same name, but our children have my name as well as his x

It's something you both need to be on board with. We went back and forth but I am the last of my surname and so I kept it when we got married. When the time came to decide our daughter's name, we decided on my last name for her as well. Couldn't make the decision until we were in the hospital and looking at her. I do sometimes wish we had a 'family' last name but I love that I have a supportive partner.

My son has my boyfriend’s last name. Didn’t feel like my son first fit nice with my last name since I have two

I used to count down days to change my name, now I haven't gotten around to it. Although I haven't been married long 😆 baby has only Dad's name as both would've been too long
But I do see the cuteness in everyone sharing the name 🤍
Sucks i kinda like my name more than his though 🙈
