Hi ladies, I have combi fed my baby since he was a week old due to losing lots of weight in the first few days. We got into a routine of having one bottle of formula first thing and one last at night and then I would breastfeed in between.
This worked brilliantly and now my baby is nearly 8 months and I’m going back to work, we decided to switch completely to formula. The first few days he slipped into a routine perfectly and would have the bottles with no issue. Now however, over the last few days he’s rejecting a feed completely, or will have 3 of the 7oz and then not want any more.
He takes his dummy out for the bottle when he sees it (has always had dummy) but then as he goes to put the bottle in his mouth he starts to gag and refuses the bottle.
He has quite a bad cold at the moment so I’m wondering if this is just a phase because he’s poorly or if anyone else has experienced something similar?
Thank you!

Also is he also having more solids and not as hungry…just a thought?

Maybe try feeding from a sippy cup if he’s rejecting the bottle

Thank you for the advice ladies! He’s definitely teething so could be that. Apparently we have the right teats for his age but I could also try the next one and see if that works!
It’s possible he’s not hungry, or even that with breastfeeding he didn’t have as much milk as he would have from a bottle (he used to breastfeed little and often) so perhaps he could be feeling full from his previous bottle still, it’s just confusing as he gives all the cues of being hungry but then turns away 😅.
That’s a good idea re sippy cup! He is good having water from a sippy cup and so maybe will take to this better.
Thank you all again, praying it’s just a phase…they do make us worry don’t they!
