Tantrums everytime I say no

Omg we are having tantrums all the time- it’s driving me absolutely crazy. Especially when I’ve said no something my son wants. Can people tell me how they handle tantrums especially when we’re outside ? I also want to add a rewards like stickers for good things like tidying up his toy. Anyone started that or they a bit too young ?

No advice but we’ve literally gone through a week of hell with my daughter. It’s like a flick has switched and someone has replaced my happy daughter with the devil. I’m actually scared to do anything around her at the moment 😅😅 So I feel we’re in the same boat at the moment!

I feel your pain! For me, instead of saying no all the time I tried saying something like ‘we don’t do that, instead we do this’ and that helps a little. Tantrums are super difficult but I try and find out why my daughter is upset by saying ‘can you tell mummy why you’re upset so I can help you’ or just distract ‘oh wow look at the plane in the sky!’. It’s definitely not too young at all for the sticker chart, I also use it and it’s super effective for my daughter. I hope this helps in some way!

I read online that saying 'no' can trigger tantrums for most toddlers so as above I try to rephrase it. Distract works a treat sometimes but sometimes my little one doesn't budge so I just say firm and give her a cuddle if she allows me too. It's very difficult so I feel your pain. Hope this phase passes soon for all of us 🤞

So my little one kicked the F off in Sainsbury’s earlier cos he wanted me to buy him a car, I didn’t say no I just explained we have lots of cars at home and started talking about his favourite ones I find distraction always works best. But I always try and get down to his level when I’m talking to him so I know I’ve got his attention

Also yeah we don’t say no in our house 😂 I try saying ‘shall we do XYZ instead?’ Usually something I know he likes!

I feel you with this. The reason why they have them is because they feel big emotions that they don’t know how to express properly so aswell as standing your ground let them know that it’s okay to feel that way and be there to give them a cuddle when there ready also compromising is a life saver give them two options then they feel like there in charge also get down to his level xx

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Breastfeeding

Does it ever feel better? The actual feeding part of it is going really well and baby boy is growing so well. I’m struggling with how my boobs feel day to day - it’s really getting me down most days. The let downs make me feel awful and sounds silly but, I am also really missing not wearing a bra! 9 weeks postpartum and still getting fairly engorged, even with comfort pumping.

Any advice or just shared stories would help. I’m so torn between carrying on because I enjoy the feeding side of it or switching to formula.
