my 13 month old has been suffering with constipation since coming off her milk and transitioning to cows milk. She eats very well, a lot of fruit and veg. I give her prune juice which does help but on the days I don’t we are right back at square one. Just looking for some advice/similar experiences whilst I seek medical help. Thanks in advance. x

My advice but my little girl is the same 🥺 she does poop once a day, but some days she cries as it’s coming out as it’s quite hard and big. Makes me sad! Like yours, she eats lots of fibre and drinks lots of water. I just dropped her down to 2x 7oz cows milk bottles to see if having less dairy will make a difference. If not, I’ll be taking her the doctors. How much cows milk if your little one having? X

Ah Chloe, sorry your little girl is going through it too, it’s horrible isn’t it. She’s having around 14oz of cows milk, split over 2 bottles (1 before her 1st nap & 1 before going to bed) x

They say to much fruit causes constipation

Could you try a mix of cows milk for one time of day and oat milk for another? Oat milk has a lot more fibre so might help her go

she doesn’t get on too well with bananas so they are very limited, I do give her ones that normally help her go x

thank you so much Aysha, I’ll definitely give that go x

Too much dairy can cause constipation too, maybe reduce any dairy portions your little one is having to see if it helps. Dried apricots, sweet potato, peas and pears help too.

thank you Cristina, I’ll try this too! X

thank you so much Kayleigh x

the midwife told me all the 'p's helps apparently

thank you Grace, I’ll keep that in mind for my next food shop x

I had the same issue with my boy not long ago! Was so worried as he was screaming in agony whenever trying to pass his stool after switching to cows milk. I’ve been giving him porridge every morning with mashed up stewed apples and home made soup everyday for lunch and it’s made his bowels so much better! Loads and loads of water too! He goes at least twice a day now and doesn’t cry at all that’s worked wonders for us!xx

Oo are you giving baby porridge or normal porridge? And are you giving veggie soups? And do you offer water in sippy cup or bottle? Thanks 😍 glad he’s better x

love been giving him normal porridge we just get rolled oats from Aldi! And yeah low salt veggie soups. Chicken and rice with any veg or roasted tomato soup is good he’s been loving them xx
