Sleep!!!

My LO is 9 weeks old and really trying to get him into a night routine but his sleep pattern is just awful!! Last night he cried every 2 hours but I wouldn’t even say he’s awake! I feed him and he’s asleep and then won’t bring up any wind. I’m exhausted and my partner is the same, so much so it’s effecting our relationship.

At the moment we are trying to have a bed time routine of bath, bottle, lullaby’s and then sleep at 8pm which usually means he finally goes to sleep at 9pm. We also are trying the method of feed, play, sleep. Im also trying a dream feed but that just seems to make him worse! Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? Do you think trying to swaddle him may help? I notice he thrashes his arms around and knocks out his dummy when trying to get to sleep and wakes himself up.

Tbh I wouldn’t swaddle at 9 weeks, they’ll be rolling soon. You need to transition out of swaddles before they roll so you’d be starting it just to get out of it

The startle reflex is something they grow out of. Follow your babies cues rather than trying to enforce a routine

I would say he's too young for a routine yet. I was told not to think about one until they're 3 months x

Babies cannot regulate sleep until about 3 months of age; that being said, you’re going to have to put her to bed earlier. It’s recommended that babies at that age go to bed around 6pm

Bedtime by 730. Let them go through the motions, keep it dark. And use brown noise. And a baby doesn’t need a bath every night. You dry them out

Sounds potentially overtired, what are his naps like in the day?

My baby is 3 months and still doesn’t sleep when I want him to lol. HV said probably won’t be an official routine till 6-9 months. Just have to get them to understand night and day for now. My baby still wakes up at least once and sleeps 8 hours in total. Me and my partner are not getting on much as a result but we know it’ll pass - good luck!

6pm is also far too early at this age. Even if they have a long ish sleep they will be wanting to be up for the day for 4/5 am - don’t stress ! X

Have you tried doing the same thing each night but adjusting the time to their cues? That's what I do and now he had got himself into some sort of routine. But I follow his tiredness and hunger cues.

Also don't beat self up, baby will get there. Just follow the cues.

I was obsessing about times of feeds and naps, wake windows and following the eat play sleep. now I follow him and it seems to be working x

My baby is the same age and Ive let my her sleep when she want to sleep feed when she want feed. Never wake a sleeping babe to feed either .
since being born she goes 4 hours but last few weeks she’s going longer some times. I’m sat feeding her now aT 3.30am and her last feed was at 8pm wake window was 2 hours then put her down and been sleep since. Listen to what your baby want, x x x

We have a routine of bath, feed and bed. He’s usually in bed for 6.30 but it was kind of a routine he fell into himself by following his cues rather than me pushing it. He will wake for a feed 1.30/4.30 and wake for the day around 7am

Could he be over tired maybe? You could try starting the routine earlier?

Also is he napping in the day enough? Sleep breeds sleep so they say! If my little one gets overtired getting him into a settled sleep is a nightmare

Not drinking

I’m going crazy. Baby born at 2.26kg. Slow to put on weight. This last week hasn’t put on any. Been trying to feed him at night and he’s not interested at all. Fast asleep. During day he will have 5 minute gulps and that’s it. He don’t cry for milk. I’ve got to keep offering to him. I try to offer it every hour but I don’t know what I’m doing. HV said nutrition comes after 5 minutes so I should pump first and then give him. I find it so hard. I tried to pump one boob nothing came. The other abit came. Tried giving him express he’s not interested in that too. Sometimes he will go for a longer a feed but not long at all. He’s 4 months and is currently 5.46kg. I have no family or friend support here and wish I had a cook, cleaner and nanny to help with everything so I can concentrate on the little one. I don’t know what’s wrong with him but I’m loosing it. It doesn’t help that my also stressed generally about my relationship and life circumstances. Any advice that will work. Any comfort you can give. I’m fed up. Is this regression - not feeding. He’s fast fast asleep. I’ve been trying to push the nipple in but that mouth is closed shut. I took some clothes off. Changed his nappy but he’s still asleep. Please help

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
