BLW

I have a nearly 8 month old who has just started to take an interest in BLW. She will pick things up and put them in her mouth which is super positive but she only does it once or twice then is done with her meal.
My question is, how long did it take your babies to start actually eating the food or taking more than one bite then being done?
This was her dinner tonight, she has one bite of sausage which she spat out and put one pasta in her mouth one time.

It takes a few months! I would likely start putting less food on her plate at one time just because it could be overwhelming. You can always offer more food if she does end up eating it. The fact that she’s putting the food in her mouth is great though!

Okay, I’ll try that! I was giving her a puree every evening since 6 months. Originally I really wanted to do BLW but she never showed an interest until now. I just don’t want her to go hungry 😅

Sometimes when I put food in front of my girl like an actual meal rather than finger foods, she whinges so I feed her a couple of spoons and then she wants a go herself. Like rice for example, I’ll feed her a couple spoons and soon enough her hand will be in it. Sometimes I just think she’s a bit lazy 😅 they get the hang of it though! Just give it time

Mine also started picking up food and actually putting it in her mouth at 9mo, she still doesn't really swallow or chew yet 😩

I started my LO blw at 6 months, and found at 9 months there was a big increase in how much she actually consumed. I probably only offered her a fraction of what's on that plate at 8 months though, just like a couple of pieces, then some more if she was interested. She's 16 months now and eats absolutely everything.

I’ve always been advised that “food before one is just for fun” don’t worry if she’s trying rather than eating and she still gets everything she needs from her milk

So I have not weaned yet but am reading a book about it at the moment. For BLW the book said to only give one finger portion of each type of food (so one stick of cucumber, one of sausage etc). If by some miracle baby eats it all you could always offer another stick of it x

I found putting less out for them yo eat seemed to work too. So one piece of each of those as an example.. then add more when they've finished. It can be a bit overwhelming for them

More food was overwhelming and ended up on the floor. I did one type of food at a time. I’m not sure how long it took my son to start eating more but it certainly helped when I was eating the same thing but usually wants what is on my plate.

It took my first boy so long but now at 2 1/2 he eats so well x

My 8 months old is doing the same. Unless i actually feed him the food.

I wish my son was like that sometimes lol he’s 7months and destroys everything ! He literally shares bagels with me and will eat the entire half down to the last crumb and still want more food. He’ll even eat most of some foods thats on my plate like mashed potatoes, or pasta. Try starting small? Maybe it’ll encourage her to want more?🤔 if my baby had to choose between different foods at once i think he’d throw most of it. Usually i’ll give him the half bagel and let him decide if he wants more. I didnt read any comments but he’s also still drinking a bottle with his baby meals so he’s more interested in anything that has actual taste

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ‘not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭

Separation Anxiety

My baby is nearly 6 months old and has just entered the separation anxiety stage… this evening I was trying to cook dinner whilst my husband was with the baby and he was just crying every time he couldn’t see me, with full blown hysterical sobbing, and as soon as he saw me again he started giggling and smiling. Any tips on how to stop this? And how long might this phase last?
My husband felt pretty disheartened and upset 😢
