Positive birth story Induction

I had my 41 week appointment on 10/16, they did a non stress test and checked my amniotic fluid levels. Baby didn’t do well on her non stress test. She was moving at a baseline and not having accelerations. I wanted to go into labor naturally and didn’t want to be induced; but after the midwife and I spoke we decided there was no reason to wait couple of days, because baby was full term and it was better for baby to be born then to be in the womb. I was also having false labor signs for two weeks and wasn’t sure if I was actually going to go into spontaneous labor. On 10/16 at 2:45pm I went in for my induction. They hospital was very busy and short staffed so they hooked me up to the monitors and I waited for a while for them to start my induction. At 6:30pm they put in my iv drip and antibiotics because I was gbs positive. At 7pm they started the pitocin.
7pm- I was 3 centimetres and 90% effaced. They kept increasing my pitocin every 30 minutes.
10pm- I was 5 centimetres and my midwife broke my water accidentally while checking my cervix. Once my water was broken the contractions got more intense and I was having the urge to poop. I laboured in the toilet for a while and then laboured on a birthing stool.
11:30pm- I was about 9 and half centimetres dilated. The contractions were really intense. I kept reminding myself to take it one contraction at a time and allowing my body to relax with every contraction so it can help me dilate. Shortly I had an intense need to push, the midwife told me to wait for a couple of contractions because I had a small amount of cervix that was still there. I got to the bed to start pushing and it was the most intense experience of my life. I felt the ring of fire and couple of pushes baby was here. I deliver her at 12:22am on 10/17. Baby coming out was the best relief of my life. I felt light and I had the same exact feeling when I had my placenta delivered.

Any mama’s that is worried about being induced, don’t worry. Try to relax and let your body open with each contraction. Focus on your breathing! I was so afraid I wouldn’t be able to deliver without pain medication if I was induced, but making lots of prayer and taking one contraction at a time I was able to achieve my goal.

Baby girl weighed 8lbs 3oz

I needed to read your story. Thank you for sharing! I’m 41 weeks today and going in to doctor office tomorrow for NST cuz baby hasn’t been moving as usual today. I was very scared of getting induced since I wanted a natural birth but I’ll think of you and your baby when my time comes 💜

Thank you! I hope you have a safe and a quick birth! Remember to breathe through the contractions and reframe any negative thoughts you get while in the process. Take it one step at a time! You will do great mama. ❤️

Thank you mama! You will be amazing. Think positive thoughts and breathe through each contraction. Don’t focus on the time, rather focus on allowing your body to open and dilate with each contraction. Tell yourself each contraction is bringing me closer to baby and you will there in no time. Wishing you a quick and easy birth. ❤️
