10lb Baby Induction vs CSection

I had a 9lbs 4 baby last week. I was induced at 37+5 weeks and went through a long induction which was turned into a c section. Recovery isn’t as bad as I expected, stay on top of pain relief and take things slow for a couple of weeks. The labour was not progressing due to baby size and a lot of inductions for big babies do turn into c sections.

It’s a person choice but having been through both I would say c section is less painful than a induced labour where I worked my way through up the different pain relief choices.

You also can’t drive for a while after a c section.

After I was told my first baby was going to be a rather big baby ie 9lb to 10lbs, I was also given the option which I’ve always said I didn’t want a section if I could avoid it, so I opted for the induction.
Induction process was horrific in my personal opinion and ended up with an emergency c-section anyways.
My ‘big baby’ was 6lbs 14oz at birth and didn’t even fit into tiny baby clothes as they was just massive.
Recovery from a c-section wasn’t too bad, my advice would be to rest when you can as I didn’t take the advice and ended up with a tiny infection in my wound but still recovery with a small infection was still alright and wasn’t as bad as other people made out (but again my opinion and everyone and everyone’s body is different)
But the choice is yours and you can only do what is best for you.

I've just birthed a 9lbs 8oz baby vaginally and only come out with a grade 1 tear which required no stitches. I had 2 sweeps at 39+2 and 39+5, she was born 39+6. Never been through induction or c-section so can't help with advice but just wanted to let you know it is doable. Good luck x

The measurements they tell you can be extremely wrong. I was due a 90th percentile and had a 4th. You can always try the induction and then if other interventions are needed, then they can do so 🤍

I was supposed to be induced to to big baby but my waters broke couple days before the induction date. Unfortunately labour didn't progress so had to be induced anyway which then failed as my leaking amniotic fluid would wash the pessary out. Ended up in emergency C section and baby weighed 7lbs9oz. He isn't big at all and they were rushing him out. 😩

I had the same told I was having a 10lb plus so really pushed towards c section we did have other factors as well so not all in size but it was our deciding factor as I panicked at having such a large baby naturally

We had our section on Wednesday just gone she is 8.8lb and even then seems small we’ve had to buy smaller as the 0-3 months drown her

Section was fine and not as scary as I thought the team where amazing

Recovery is ongoing had a tough time in hospital with large blood loss in surgery and then womb backing up with blood but in all honesty that was 48hrs now back home and recovering well

And we now have the most perfect little lady so however you get them here just try do the right thing for you and don’t take too much notice of the growth scans if I’d known she was 8.8lb I would of made a different decision but who’s to say that would of been better or worse

I was predicted to have a big baby and she was 10lb 4oz. I had an induction (due to IVF) and I had a normal vaginal delivery with no tears. I was keen to try vaginally and I’m so glad I stuck to my guns. It was painful (obviously) but I didn’t use any pain relief and I’d say she was an easier birth than my first born who was 7lb 11oz.
