NT scan - Going out of my mind!

I had my scan on Monday and all looked fine visually with the baby and was moving around a lot so took a while to get the measurements. I had a NT of 3.2mm and nothing was said in the scan. I had my bloods after and then on Wednesday I got a call to say I was High risk for Downs. I’m going out of my mind with worry! The chance is 1:89 and my Papp-A was 3.09 MoM so high and BHCG was 1.98MoM. Anyone else been in the same boat and all was okay? I did the NIPT test yesterday and just waiting on the results and I can’t stop googling! I may add that I just turned 40 and this is an IVF pregnancy!

Hi Jill, I also got a high risk result (1 in 144) and had the NIPT, it came back within a week and all was fine. I think the factors that flag it up as high risk are age (I am 38), higher NT measurement, low Papp A and high HCG. I had low Papp a and high hcg. I know how much of a worrying time it is, I comforted myself reading stories of women who had higher risk results and the NIPT came out fine and I also found it quite helpful to reframe it as it’s still a 99% chance the baby doesn’t have Downs. Sending lots of love and hope your results come back quickly x

Thanks for reaching out Emma it’s such a hard time isn’t it! I’ve worked it out that it’s a 1.1% chance so that’s made me feel a lot better! It’s just very hard not to worry as I know my age was definitely going to be a factor! My PappA is thankfully above the average it’s just the 3.2mm on the NT that’s bothering me mostly! Keeping all crossed and hoping the wait isn’t too long! Glad your results were all clear! Xxx

I’m in the same boat. Waiting on NIPT test results. NP 3.3 😢. I’m 38. I’m a mess with googling. I am going for another scan on Friday to remeasure NP. I’m in the states not familiar with Papp a and BHCG but will Google it.
Good luck everyone 😔🥰

it’s hard isn’t it but we have to stay optimistic! In the U.K. anything under 3.5 is normal but over 3 is top end of normal so still within the range. We have tests done on our blood and age and it gives an overall risk. I do know that age does bump people up. Even with out my bloods I would be high risk as I’m 40 so I’m just hoping all will be okay! Keeping everyone crossed for you xx

thank you! Same here, wishing all the best. I’m waiting on NIPT results as well. May I ask if you tested your embryos for IVF?

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Scan needed at 33 weeks

Hi ladies! I just had a midwife appointment (I am 33+5)..the midwife was different to my usual midwife. She's requested I have a scan within 72 hours as she said baby is measuring a little small, however, she did say that it's likely nothing to worry about and it's probably just her measuring me a bit different to my usual midwife. Has anyone else had this? Am a bit worried although babys heartbeat and movements are completely fine.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲
