It’s randomly hit me that laying a sleeping baby on their back surely can’t be comfortable right? Just imagine if we were sleeping only on our backs unable to move positions on a flat hard surface. Especially when it’s constant and the only break they have is for their feed.

I always sleep on my back 🤷🏻♀️
If it wasn’t comfortable, they wouldn’t sleep.

My baby hated sleeping on his back, he would automatically wake up or go side ways. We had to use a pillow (I know it is not recommended with SIDS) for him to sleep flat. If I take the pillow off he goes back to his side 🤣

What a random thought haha. A lot of adults sleep on their backs and don’t really move at night (my husband). Mine has been a side/front sleeper since she was able to do so.

It's not meant to be constant. Just for night sleep. My 2 year old actually chooses to sleep on his back a lot. And my husband as someone else mentioned, sleeps on his back all night long. I personally find it uncomfortable and sleep on my front. But even so, babies aren't meant to be laying on their back all day everyday.

I took baby to see an osteopath and she said babies Hebert don’t like sleeping on their back so let them sleep on their side or tummy occasionally as long as they are supervised

My girl turned sideways in the hospital and 90% of the nights since. I put her on her back, but she moves how she wants, I never pushed her back

Mine hates being flat on his back. During the day we keep him upright almost all the time or on our chests/the Babocush. We put him flat on his back whenever he is in the crib and he scrunches onto his side

My boy has slept on his front since 3 weeks. He’s now 21 weeks and rolls anyway!

I like to sleep on my back with my arms above my head actually if I’m having a hard time sleeping but lol but I sleep all way back stomach side. My lo slept on her side as a newborn honestly and she did sleep on her back but she sleep better on her stomach. Now at 10 mo she sleeps all way like me it’s funny to watch but annoying lol cause she run me out of bed she’s a bed hogger. Sometime she sleeps on my back. The other morning she slept the last hour before we got up on my literal head

My LO (12 weeks) only sleeps on his side x

I have 5 kids
All slept on there tummy’s
Sleeping on your back is uncomfortable and my children cried and hated it ❤️

@Nicole did you let them sleep on their tummt at night? I am considering trying with my son but was put off by the expert advice

yes from about 6 weeks old when I felt abit more secure I put them on tummy. Arms out above there head. Baby’s automatically turn there head to the side. First few nights I’d get up and check them etc in cot next too me. And obviously blanket at there waist. My children all sleep thru night
Youngest is 16 weeks old now. I don’t follow text book I do what’s best for baby and how they comfortable. Hv was fine with it as it’s my 5th child. X

I did the same, my boy was so good on his tummy from early on loved tummy time anyway and strong neck. Practiced in the day when I was watching him first of all!
He slept much better once I started putting him on his front & slept through from 8 weeks I definitely think it’s because he’s on his belly! X

thanks a lot, will give it a try tonight too as he already fell asleep on his tummy

yes just check little one ever few hours , baby should be fine. U will also find the baby sleeps longer. Update me how tonight goes fingers crossed 🤞🏾 x

My little one right now x

100 percent . Honestly best thing I did with all my children x a lot of mums are struggling with there nights because there children are on there back
It is not comfortable for them x

@Nicole we had the best night, he only woke up at 7am for a feed and then back to sleep. He's still alseep now so he definitely needed the rest. Thanks for the advice ❤️

glad it worked out. They sleep longer on tummy when they comfortable and Cosy. Keep it up xx
