I had low iron during pregnancy but the tablets made me feel sick so had to stop taking them. I’m now 11 months PP and again have low iron only it’s very low now so I’m back on iron tablets. When is the best time to take them to avoid the sickness ? I’m thinking with tea so I essentially sleep through the nausea, but what has everyone else tried to avoid the sickness? Thanks in advance 🤍

Try having the liquid version-floradix?

I used to have to take them too. Definitely take it with a meal like lunch or dinner. Or see if you can do a lower dosage tablet

I’d say definitely after a meal otherwise they just sit in your stomach. I also had that issue but they gave me a different type and it worked better. They wanted me to take 3 a day though, I just told them I’d take what I could manage. Ask them to try you on the different type of tablet or the liquid x

Take them with orange juice - it helps x

What do your doctor's consider low? I had tests and according to other NHS trusts it's low but not mine 🤦♀️ x

I have to take my iron with orange juice the vitamin C helps it absorb and feel less sick.
I have to take 3 a day. I needed an iron transfusion when I was pregnant.

they said my level is currently 5 and they want it to be 50 because of my BMI etc x

yeah my doctors recommended I take 3 a week instead so it has change to properly absorb and lessen the symptoms x

thanks Emily, mine is 16, but used to be nearer 50 as well x
