Breech baby

How did they put back into a breech position? Nurses and drs can't just move your baby into a certain position unless they are inside you

The nurse started pushing and adjusting my baby into a different position without consulting a doctor and I kept on telling the nurse what are you doing? Why are you doing this? You’re not supposed to be doing this without a doctor and that is the total reason why I don’t go to the hospital here in my hometown

I was mainly concerned because I had not felt my baby moves in three days

It’s called ECV, or external celphalic version. It’s where doctors press on the stomach to in courage babies to move. Usually it’s used to get breech babies into he’s down position. If she was doing it without a doctor present, I would ask for an ultrasound to see for sure that the baby went back into the head down position, and if not then to get another ECV done to correct it.

Isn’t this a type of procedure called ECV? I know in my province you’d have to sign permission for them to do this, go under a type of anesthetic and be somewhat prepped for an emergency C-section. Mine was breach at 38 weeks and I refused the ecv as there are so many complications and a 50% chance of it working and high chance of putting you into labour or having an emergency C-section if something went wrong. They’re also suppose to monitor baby’s heartbeat while doing so

An EVC is extremely painful, you would know if you had one…also nurses don’t perform them, doctors do and in the states most doctors won’t even do them unless you have a spinal block. If it does not work they typically require a C-section right then which is why they aren’t done routinely and not before 37 weeks. You can work to get baby head down on your own, lookup the miles circuit and do those exercises. Rotating your helps on a yoga ball, downward dog off the couch…there’s a ton you can do on your own to promote head down position.

Also some chiropractors are certified to do the Webster technique, not sure if it makes a difference but when my baby was breech at 37 weeks I did all of the above religiously and he flipped on his own.

My daughter flipped breech at 39+1 after I had been going through the induction process for 24 hours already. The c-section was surprisingly not so bad. I hadn’t ever had a surgery or a stitch in my life beforehand.

not true actually. It’s possible to move babies with your hands from outside the womb.

My nurse has moved my baby around 35 weeks and some do this if baby is breech to flip them.

It takes A LOT to move baby. I had an ecv that failed so I do t think she actually turned your baby that quickly with being monitored for it

when my doc did it, she did it in like 5 seconds and it didn’t hurt at all. It felt nice actually to reposition him. I was also smaller at around 35w ish.

the earlier you get it the easier it is. I had mine at 38 weeks and my baby did not budge at all from frank breech. It hurt like hell, my sides were sore for weeks after even when I had my baby. And they told me I had an 80% chance it would be successful

They can turn on their own usually until 38 weeks, if you do an ECV too early they can turn back around
