Save the shoes and let him learn barefoot for now 😊 it’s also completely normal for kiddos to not walk up to 18 months. My younger didn’t learn til 16.5 months. I’d hold his hands and let him take assisted steps. He finally learned by me sitting on the floor a few feet away from the couch. I held his hands as he stood and took the first couple steps then took my hand away and let him fall/stumble towards the couch. A push Walker also helped us.

I wouldn’t recommend shoes if he isn’t even walking yet, I don’t think they are very good for their feet! Does he have a walker? Or something he can easily push around? Do you hold his hands and try to walk with him? It’s still early so don’t stress about it, he will walk when he’s ready ☺️

Totally normal for babies to not be walking by a year old! The typical age range is 10-18 months! The only time you need to be at all concerned about it, is if there are no signs of walking by 18 months.
I didn’t walk until I was about 13 months. One size does not fit all with babies, and they move at their own pace.

Also, don’t use shoes! Being barefoot helps balance and it helps the feet form properly!

Hi my LO started crawling at 1yo and walking at 14 months he is now almost 16 months and runs everywhere. Just give him time he will get there in his own time. We also never put him on shoes and still he never wears them now in the house only to go out. In the house I leave him with winter warm anti slip socks

he started turning cartwheels out of the walker so we stopped using it😂 I do not have any walk behind toys and that’s because of my fear of them rolling away too fast and we end up with a busted lip or missing baby teeth😔. But I’m willing to loose the shoes and find some walking toys and be patient with him🤗. It just had me worried because my other two was walking before turning one.

Let him have time, some babies take longer, and if he spends more time crawling and developing in that way, he will be able to be more structurally ready for walking. Using walkers is actually really harmful to a babies development, so I highly recommend you just offer things to pull up on, like a couch, coffee table, toy shelf etc. Also, a space heater can shuffle sideways along a rail or wall, it’s another important milestone before they start independently walking.

hahaha I love it! Sounds silly but you could just get a cardboard box and wrap it in shiny wrapping paper so it slides? He can push it and unlikely to cause too much injury if he did bump himself ☺️ yeah definitely lose the shoes and just try and be patient ☺️ not easy but they do all develop differently. One day he will probably just get up and walk and you’ll be like dam 😳😂

It’s pretty normal not to walk or show any interest in walking at this age. It will come. But what worked for my boy was watching videos of his little cousin walking. He would imitate the sounds she makes in the video and soon enough he started imitating the walking. But he’s been standing and walking around furnitures since he was 9 mo. But every time we tried to make him walk unassisted he’d just drop to the floor. Until we started with the videos 😅 it worked.
