Hey mama , I am a first time mom , living in montreal ,
And I had a 3d degree tear during delivery
My delivery was normal, no epidural, no drugs , and the labor was only 1h , but the only sad complication was the 3d degree tear .
I am 5 weeks postpartum now , and it still hurts when go ( p**py ) I get a bit of blood also .
Was wondering, if any of you had it , how was your experience, what did you do to care for yourself after 5 weeks, when did you resume intimacy, what did you do to mot have pain during it , and when does it stop hurting in general? and what advices can you give me overall?

Hey, so sorry you are going through this. I have no advice, I had no tearing. I hope you feel better soon ❤️🩹

I only had a 2nd degree tear but took me 10ish weeks to heal completely! I only just stopped having pain a couple weeks ago (15 weeks pp now). I know it’s not the same, but hopefully it gives some insight.
I had sex at around 9 weeks and it hurt but last week it didn’t hurt at all. I used the peri bottle for a loooong time, but by 7ish weeks I wasn’t experiencing any pain anymore I just had a couple stitches that weren’t healed/dissolved yet.

I had 3rd degree. Everyone with 2nd or 3rd in alberta is referred to a Pelvic Floor physio. See if you can get access to one, I'm so glad I did.

I had a 3rd degree tear myself. I made sure to take the laxatives that my doctor prescribed to help with bowel movements. I also tried to get in the bath as much as possible even if only for 10 minutes. I don’t know if I was to consumed with my daughter but I honestly barely noticed the pain. I think it was at least a couple months before I even contemplated any intimacy. I not sure if any of that helps but it does get better.

I had 4th degree tear and it took me around 6 weeks to kind of feel okay. I took laxatives for around a month. I would suggest using a warm sitz bath with epsom salts for going to poopy, it helps a lot. And as Carlie suggested, you should definitely consider visiting a pelvic floor physiotherapist 😊 My husband and I didn’t get intimated till at-least 4 months postpartum and as doctor suggested used a lot of lube.

I had a 3rd too and mine was mostly healed by the 6 week checkup but I would say it was still a good 3/4 weeks after before I felt completely normal. I did start doing pelvic exercise as so I started feeling better to build back strength.
I also took warm baths at least 2 times a day as it really helped with the stiffness as the area healed (sitz baths are a good alternative).
As for the pain, I continued the pain meds from the hospital until it was healed because I was a chicken lol

I had a natural birth and needed an episiotomy. I’m 7.5 weeks postpartum now and it’s still a little tender but I’ve noticed a big improvement within the last 2ish weeks. It was really quite painful for the first 5-6 weeks and I haven’t tried to have intercourse yet, will probably wait a few more weeks to make sure I’m fully healed. A few weeks ago I was scared it wouldn’t get better, but if does!! Just have to give it more time 😄

I had a third. I was intimate again by 6 weeks (by choice, my husband didn’t push anything) and it definitely was like the first time all over again. Needed to take it slow and be super patient with that process because I was totally sensitive still and you need to be careful!
As for healing I felt pretty good by about 10ish weeks (like back to normal). However, I have some friends who also tore in the third degree and didn’t feel normal till like five months postpartum and that’s also super normal. Everyone’s body is different. I’m sorry you’re hurting it’s no fun healing from that! Try not to take too many sitz baths tho PLEASE! It can dissolve your stitches and cause issues but it seems like you’re not “early early” into postpartum anymore so you’re probably fine.

Also had a 3rd degree tear... from an episiotomy I didn't want.
After a week my stitches tore and popped. I was on antibiotics for at least 6 weeks while it healed naturally (and terribly 😞)
The OB told me to use a warm sitz bath with Epsom salt (plain no additives or scents) at least twice a day. It helps to keep it clean and encourage healing. I also used restoralax for quite some time postpartum.
It took about 3 months to fully heal. The first time my husband and I had sex after, it was terrible.... But only that first time. After that everything was fine.
I would second a pelvic floor physio. In Ontario it's not covered, so I never went. I wish I had, even out of pocket it would have been worth it.

I definitely recommend seeing pelvic floor physiotherapist!! Mine helped so much with my post partum and healing.

My 1st degree tear took 8-10 weeks to feel better and stitches fully dissolve.
Unfortunately no one talks about how hard pp healing is.
Currently 8 months pp and still dealing with hemmrhoids though!

I had a 3rd degree tear with my first. No epidural either. My baby got stuck in my pelvis and I was given the option to either vacuum suction her out, use forceps or c-section. I opted for forceps and I felt EVERYTHING.
My doc prescribed these orange stool softeners that worked wonders for me. I also did sitz baths religiously everyday including after a bowel movement.
I was given the ok during my 6th week appointment, however, I waited another 2 or so weeks to become intimate because I just didn’t feel healed enough.
I also bought this amazing memory foam donut pillow for sitting down and brought it everywhere with me for awhile.
Make sure to use lots of lube during your first time doing it so you’ll be comfortable.

I didn’t tear but had an episiotomy. I couldn’t be intimate with my partner until 6 months postpartum. I highly recommend pelvic floor physiotherapy, sooner rather than later. It helped me a lot!
I still had pain on and off until around 5.5 months but slowly started to heal. Good luck 🤍
