Anti E antibody

Hi mumas! I have been under consultant care since day 1 really due to the Anti E antibody being present in my blood.. they think this was due to a blood transfusion I had years ago. I don’t know anyone else that’s had this experience but I figured there must me someone out there! It’s been confusing and upsetting so I just wanted to offer the opportunity to chat about it for anyone else that’s had the same experience xx

I have anti e too! I’m coming up 28 weeks. Just had my next blood test, this is my third baby. Never had it with either of the other two and never had a blood transfusion. Tbh it has made me a little paranoid x

Omg!! I knew I couldn’t be the only one! I still don’t really understand it if I’m honest 😅 but Iv got to nearly 35 weeks and no issues because of it so far! Hope that is reassuring! Please message me if you want to chat about it! I felt so upset about it for ages and could of used someone to talk to who had gone through the same thing 🩷

Aww sorry I never saw this. I have a consultant appt tomorrow so will find out more and will message you.
It’s so in the dark about it all. I am on a Facebook group about it. Lots of people I have found though are in America. Have they said anything more to you? How many blood test etc have you had? Xx

Hi, I’m a senior scientist in blood transfusion (where they test all the samples for this) so I can explain things in detail if you wanted any information.
Basically your body can make an antibody when exposed to foreign blood, either from a transfusion or from a previous baby. Only about 3% of people do, and there’s no real explanation as to why!
If you have antibodies in your blood they will monitor the levels by blood test, and monitor the baby, as the antibodies can cross the placenta and may cause an effect on the baby. There are lots of different factors involved and hopefully your consultants will explain it all. But I am happy to answer any questions if I can. 🙂

Hi Thank you so much for replying! That has been the best explanation I have had! Baby and I have been kept an eye on monthly and had regular blood tests where the levels have come down abit and remained stable.. baby has also been unaffected as I’m 36 weeks now my consultant is happy to not see me again.. consultant was almost positive I got the antibody from 2 blood transfusions I had but my partner tested positive for the antigen or something still not quite clear on that and what that means but all in all everything’s been ok! And baby is fine that’s the main thing!! Thank you so much again for commenting!! 🩷 xx

hi Lauren, sorry I have just seen your message.. how did your apt with the consultant go?? Please do message me!.. ooh really!?? I’m not on Facebook that’s great there’s other people out there to connect with about this though!.. I had monthly scans up until 2 weeks ago and bloods taken every month to keep an eye on levels.. my consultant was happy with baby and stable levels in blood so I won’t be seeing him again now. It has been a very weird ride but I only have 3 weeks left thank goodness! Hope you are well and got some clarity from your apt! 🩷 xx

I've just found out today at my 16 week appointment although I'm 18 weeks that a small amount of anti E antibodies was found in my 8 weeks bloods. Reading your messages has been reassuring as they didn't say much about it just need regular blood tests and baby may need to come early which put me in panic mode. I've never had a blood transfusion but this is my 3rd baby so I'm assuming it's from my previous pregnancies x

hey have you found out any more information on this yet? I've just been told I've got the same thing and in complete panic mode and don't quite understand it at all. Do you have any information

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
