Growth scan

Hi everyone 🩷 I’ve just had my 25 week midwife appointment where they measured bump and they have said I’m measuring quite big so I’m being sent for a growth scan next week. Im not really sure if to be worried or not but just wondered if anyone had any similar stories or advice? I guess I’m most concerned about how it will affect birth but trying not to get too far ahead of myself!

At this point even if your measureing ahead there is plently of time for baby to go even out . All measurements can be off as the scans aren't accurate my little boy should of been over 8 pounds when born at 37 weeks but he was 6.11 . Drs will only be concerned if baby is measuring over 10 pounds but even then you can have a normal delivery. I know 2 woman who have had 10 pounds plus babies and they had a vaginal delivery with minimal tearing . But like I said at the start even if your measuring big now plenty of time for baby to be a "normal" weight later on .

I wouldn’t worry, the fundal measurements don’t so much measure the size your your baby as there are many outside factors. It just gives a guide of the growth. Also as stated above it’s very early and plenty of time yet!
Hope your growth scan goes well x

I wouldn’t worry! I had this throughout my whole first pregnancy and baby was on the big side 9lb9 but very healthy! Also I don’t really understand how they measure our tummies because surely we are all different sizes to start with?

Also see it as an extra opportunity to see baby again! 😊

100% agree with the others that measuring the bump is essentially useless. It’s just one of those things where if they send 100 women in with a big bump, one of them will find out their baby is measuring big. I wouldn’t worry unless the growth scan itself shows they’re big. And as far as I’m aware, it would just mean they would want you to give birth before 40 weeks, so you’d get to meet your baby sooner!!

My bump always measured on the 90th percentile, but at the growth scans baby was always just below the 50th, so I’d take the fundal height with a pinch of salt 😂

My sister (had 3 now) was told she was measuring big or small at a number of check ups and all 3 were so average at birth
