Gestational Diabetes Test at Tameside

Anyone who's had the GD test at Tamesidr, can you tell me where they make you wait? Is it just back in that normal antenatal waiting room for hours or do you get to go somewhere a tad comfier? 😬

Also how bad is the drink? I have mine first thing Friday morning and I'm dreading it as if I don't eat when I get up I start feeling sick with the hunger. Not sure how I'm gonna last the morning on just water 😭

Yep. Back in the waiting room! Make sure you take something to keep you entertained haha.

I didn’t find the drink too bad to be honest but everyone is different. Hope it goes well for you x

@Sarah ughh that waiting room is so uncomfortable 😩 how long did you end up being there for?

I was told originally before I went for mine that I was allowed to go home and come back X amount of hours later then when I went in for it they told me I have to stay in the waiting room 😑 it is uncomfortable and feels like you're there forever - I can't remember how long but it's a good couple hours

it really is! I would have been happy if they even let me just wait in my car. I was there for just over 2 hours I believe. This was with my last baby at the beginning of last year. Not looking forward to going through the process of it again! X

TAKE A PILLILOW!!! And something to do book, tablet and headphones (power bank if you have one).I was there for close to 4 hours. 2 hours once you have had the drink then they have to take bloods at the end and if they struggle finding a vain they make you go back in the waiting room with another cup of water and try again around 30 minutes later xx

I’m sorry to say this but I was sick about 30 mins after taking the drink and having my bloods taken. The waiting room was warm that day as well. They sent me home and asked me to come back the next day. When I went back they didn’t do the test again as they said I would probably be sick again and they decided that I had GD as they had checked my bloods from the previous day x

Cosleeping

So my 5 month old sleeps in a portable bassinet between myself and my husband every night. He's so good, he sleeps the whole night with both of us each holding one of his hands. My husband wants him to start sleeping in his crib but I honestly love him being with me. I sleep so much better knowing he's right there with me. The times I have tried to put him in his crib he screams and I feel so awful. I also sit there watching the monitor and don't ever get any sleep. I feel like I am being selfish because I want him to stay in the bed with me. I get that in the long run it's better for him to learn to sleep in his crib in his own room but I am just so not ready and he doesn't seem to be either. Is there ever really a good time to make the change? Anyone else dealing with this?

Question for the newborn mamas!

My 2 month old coughs and chokes in between feeds recently. It will come on randomly. Sometimes it’s scary! I think it’s because of reflux but I can’t be sure. He also has been salivating a lot more so he’s got a build up of that. Any ideas/ tips tricks to help?

Next 2 me or Moses Basket

Hi,

First time mum here 👋

What are we all doing in terms of sleeping arrangements for our little ones once they arrive?

I'm leaning more towards a moses basket for bedtimes, 💭 any experience or advice welcome 🫶

Daily bath time?

Are there any mums who are bathing their babies daily? My daughters 7 weeks old and I’m only bathing her 2/3 times a week as recommended by my midwife but I feel it helps soothe her tummy as well as relaxes her before bedtime and I’m wondering if I should add more baths into our routine!

Sleeping at Night

I gave birth on 31st March. FTM struggling, my baby hates being put down, hates the next to me crib. We’ve tried swaddling, sleep bags, white noise, any advice I would be so grateful. I haven’t had much sleep since giving birth so grateful for any tips

Developmental leap? Sleep regression? HELP

My baby turned 1yo a couple days ago and she started screaming bloody murder before every nap and bedtime. Like, her screams are scary and loud. It doesn’t necessarily last, but it can be long (20-30 minutes). She doesn’t settle easily and refuses categorically to be put down…I am about to lose my damn mind. Is someone else going through this? Did you experience this? Please help 😭
