Hey lovelies,
I’ve just had a midwife appointment and been told I need to go for a growth scan as the baby is showing signs of still growing she is in the 3rd percentile which indicates the need for a growth scan.
I’ve had growth scans with each pregnancy and everything’s been fine but just wondered if she is a 3rd percentile baby what does this mean and is everything generally ok?

Hey is this because of bump measurement? If so try not to stress it is so outdated and havr seen alot of woman have to go for one because of bump measurement and the baby growing perfectly xx

Yeah the bump measurement. Does seem extremely outdated; hopefully they come up with a new method 😂
Thank you lovely xx

@S.Y your welcome, you would think they would of thought of something by now wouldn't you 😅😅 you just get to see your little baba again even tho we don't see too much at this stage hahaha xx

Hey! I had this this week, she had “dropped” and was below 3rd percentile. Went for the scan yesterday & the sonographer said she weighs exactly how much she should around this point and no concerns. She even said to me the scans are equally not overly accurate but more accurate than the midwives measurements. The way they measure is so outdated & there’s so many factors that could change your bump size… e.g if baby is transverse, if you are generally quite skinny (like me) and don’t have much of a bump, even the baby is right in your back etc. It’s frustrating cause you worry but they’re so common, yesterday at the hospital I heard the receptionists moaning as every call they had was from a midwife referring!

I had growth scans with my daughter whose head was consistently on 4th percentile and she was born perfectly small x

I'm having 4 weekly growth scans because I had a small baby...I had twins last time so that's the only reason and they still came out 6lbs 4 at 38 weeks.
I dont feel I really need growth scans as I also had them with my first born and he was 8lbs 6. Try not to let it worry you, I think they are very cautious possibly overly. Just think of it as you get to see baby an extra time :)

Ignore the fundal tape measurement that's so outdated! My bump was 4 weeks behind yet baby is actually perfect - head and belly in front ! Xx
