Hiya, I've got a growth scan appointment on Monday due to baby not growing as well as my midwife would like her to.
My appointment is at 11am, but due to the distance between my hospital and work both me and my manager agreed there is no point for me to show up to work at all as I would only be able to be at work for less than 2 hours.
Now, I wanted to ask if someone knows if my work has to pay me for being off whole day or do they only legally have to cover the travel to the appointment and the appointment time itself?
My manager is unable to give me straight answer and I just want to know as next week is my last week at work anyway.

Under my work policy, if you need to take the full day off for a pregnancy related appointment then they would still pay for the full day.

thank you, and if I was looking for it where would I find my work policy regarding things like this, I've looked through all the papers I ever got from them and none of it days anything about what happens if you get pregnant š¤¦āāļø

Did they send you a maternity/pregnancy pack when you informed them of your pregnancy. It should be on there. Alternatively if you have an intranet page for your place of work then you should be able to find it on the HR section.

I believe legally you get your appointments covered anything outside of it will vary.
I think my workplace covers appointments and travel time but if you need the full day off than you gotta take either unpaid time off or holiday, or we can also work from home the remainder and we have a site we can check their policiesā¦If you canāt find anything you can always call your HR and ask them for their policy to be sent over.

They pay you for the appointment time and travel to and from it.

This should all be covered in your workplace Maternity Policy š

My work paid me a whole shift when I had my glucose test but not sure if that's routine

Contact HR and ask them x

My company pay for antenatal appointments if they can only be scheduled during working hours. So if it was on my day off I donāt get paid for it. But when Iāve had to go up for checks during my shift theyāve paid me for the full shift. It should be in your employee handbook xx

I work for the NHS and I only get paid for my travel time/appointment, I start at 8:30 and most of my appointments are 11:30 so I take 2.5hrs lieu in the morning because I could technically go into work but similarly to you I wouldn't be there for very long and I'd rather save on diesel and get a lie in
