Hello,
Wondering if someone could help or tell me what happened to them,
I have chosen to have an elective C-section, luckily my hospital allows them so I am happy about that! I have an appointment with my consultant on the 1st Feb which I think is to go through the pros n cons of each birth, baby is breech anyway but the main reason I want an C-section is because I have a bladder condition and already been told it would benefit me,
Anyhooo.. after this consult appointment (I’m not changing my mind I’m stubborn about having a C-section) how long then would I have to wait before I get my date of the C-section? Im due in March and will it be on my due date? As I’m trying to sort out my Mat leave too 🥲
Please help!

Following as I’m in the same situation pretty much - I’m also due in March and already had my telephone conversation about the pros and cons in December. However, it seems I’ll receive another phone call in a week or so to finally confirm the surgery (I believe?) and then wait for a date. I was told it may be a last minute thing but it depends on the hospital and their schedules 🤷🏻♀️ 👀

Generally speaking they’ll do a c-section at 39 weeks or the week of, it depends when they have space. Normally it’s around 36 weeks you get your date so depending on when you’re due in March they might just tell you then and there or you may need to wait a bit. Also some hospitals will give a date in advance but most are 36 weeks x
ooo ok ok, I’m due 13th so haven’t really got that long left 🥲
ok ok, imma going to put it in my head that I won’t know the date till the 36th week! X

My C section was week 38 and i got a phonecall the week before with the date to attend. I worked right up to the end of my pregnancy,
I defo would go back and take 2 weeks earlier to have some me time haha!

I’m also due on the 13th! My midwife told me it may be at 39 weeks (on the 6th?). Anyway my mat leave will start on the 4th anyway as I couldn’t really wait for them to tell me a date exactly.. that’s what I’ve done :)

It's usually at 36/37 weeks they tell you when you'll be going in unless there's reason to deliver at 38 weeks or earlier then I've been told it's around 32-35 weeks they'll tell you
thank you for your comment!
Yes, my work offer two weeks off paid at the start of my Mat leave so I’ll be taking that for sure! But I have a full year of holiday to use as well which I might save until baby is here 😌

Ah good luck with that - it depends on the hospital trust. I’m also having a c section (at UCLH in London) and haven’t been given a precise date yet, just that it’s gonna happen sometime in week 39 or 40. I’m 37w and no precise date given at the 36w appointment.

I had a growth scan and consultant at 34 weeks and booked a date in then. Got another growth scan next week so will have all my swabs done then ready for my section. It may be on your due date depending on what days your hospital does elected ones. My hospital does Monday, Thursday and Fridays.

Elective c sections are being done at 39 weeks now. This is the guidelines as it reduces risks to mum and baby. However if there are any complications it can be brought forward but they do not like them bend performed before 38 weeks
