So today I had my 12 week (I was 14 weeks by my dates) I go to the scan and to be told I'm only 11 weeks by the doctor. So I'm back in two weeks again to see if the doctor has "Missed anything" or if baby I'd lagging begind in weight! The doctor also spoke about this test available NIPT test if we wanted to do but we would have to go private! She said that the chances of anything showing up would be very low but im just a bit confused to why she offered this test to me? I felt like she was telling me something was wrong without telling me something was wrong? I also have a 2cm cyst on my ovary I just feel very depleted 🙄🤔

The NIPT is the combined test and should be done on the nhs and is usually done before the 14 week mark, therefore I would contact your midwife and ask for the test to be done.
I'm living in Ireland that's why she said if we wanted it we have ti go private! Is it routine screening with NHS?

Ah ok. Yes it’s offered to everyone as long as it’s done before the 14 week mark and then another test is offered if you miss that timeframe.
Okay thats good to know that it's routine and that the doctor was just suggesting it was available to me

I was offered a NIPT test due to the chances of my baby having a higher chance of a chromosomal condition. I don’t believe a NIPT is offered to all pregnant women as ‘routine’
Everyone is offered screening but a NIPT test is like a further test after the first screening x
@Rosie she said never said we had to do the test but if we wanted we had to go private.. The only reason I ask is i had my LG 11 months ago and was never even told about this test so when she said it i was worried something was wrong x

Apologies. I thought it was the same as the combined test and after a quick google Rosie is correct, it’s not the same as the one I was thinking that’s routinely offered!

Yeah weird to say it though and worry you. Maybe speak to your midwife about it too. At least you get to go back in 2 weeks time. x

Nipt is only offered on the nhs if they find something in the routine tests, so you would have to go private until the regular screening tests pick up something.
