Collecting Colostrum?

Just curious if anyone in this group is able to collect colostrum, and if so how much?

I've started collecting once a day, every night before bed. My output is a little varied, 1-2ml per day. I'm not sure if that's a low output, high, or right on point.

That’s how much I am getting too.

Just remember to label them and use oldest first. 😉

I just started and got 0.2ml the first day and 0.5ml the second day :) collecting with my haakaa just suction, I'm about 36 and a half weeks. Anything over 0.1ml is worth saving so you're doing absolutely fine. I'd say your output is right on point.

I am exclusively hand expressing. I tried once to use a manual pump but I feel like there is so little coming out that it isn't worth the hassle.

I was getting 1-2 mL at a time but I saw someone on here mention doing it after a nice hot shower and so I decided to try that and I got 8 mL during that session. My poor husband was waiting for me haha. He wanted to do stuff with me and I told him I was going to express rq which usually doesn't take long since it's usually just the 1-2 mL but then after a while he's like "Soooo what's up?" And I'm over here like "It's neverending!!!" Like damn it felt like I struck oil. 😂 So yeah, try doing it after your ladies are nice and warmed up after a shower y'all! That's what worked for me 🩷

I have definitely started leaking but have not collected. I was curious how others have collected and my guess was a syringe. Idk why I’m afraid to hand express or pump as though it might induce labor which I feel is just an irrational thought lol. I also feel strange about keeping old stuff for my baby to take in when I know there will be new colostrum when she’s born? I suppose I’m just not educated on the subject but have been curious since I started leaking.

Everyone I'd different some get 1-2ml some get more some get non at all until baby comes

it’s not an irrational thought — some moms are more responsive to nipple stimulation for labor induction, so listen to your body :) I had my first child within 24 hours of trying out my breast pump for a minute to see how it works. Probably would have been ok hand expressing colostrum but I had no idea at the time that I could.

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
