Pros and cons with induction

I chose to be electively induced at 39 weeks with my first pregnancy. It was an overall very positive experience. I plan to do this same thing this time

Following cuz i want to know as well, all ive heard is that theres a higher chance for c section

there is, only because you're trying to persuade your body into something. And sometimes it takes forever or messes with baby

I planned for an induction with my first and had to be induced early for pre-e. Really the “worst” part of it was how long it took because baby didn’t want to come out so I was in labor for 4 ish days. I’ve heard women say that the contractions from the pitocin are terrible but I had an epidural at 5 cm and I didn’t even really feel the contractions when it came time to push. I did have back labor but that’s because of where my child had his hands and that was incredibly painful but not induction related. It was so nice to have the peace of mind that I wouldn’t be rushing to the hospital which was an hour and a half from me, that I wouldn’t go into labor while my husband was at work, and that we generally knew about the time we were going to meet baby. I asked to be induced this pregnancy as well

I had a scheduled induction with my first and ended up with a low dose induction with my second after not progressing. While I’m hoping for no induction this time around, both of my experiences with inductions were very simple. My first I had in 8 hours from start of induction to her being born. And my second once we started pitocin he came just a few short hours later.
I don’t know that I would elect for an induction, but I would not be nervous if I had to do it again. And yes the pitocin contractions are a beast!

My concern is the ‘cascade of interventions’ ~ pitocin can lead to more intense and frequent contractions which can ultimately increase chances for an emergency c-section.

I will say, I was 1.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced already when I was induced. My baby was starting to descend already. I think that helped incredibly with my induction (16 hours of labor and 45 minutes pushing) I had friends that were 0cm and 0% effaced and ended in C-sections because labor was too long. Maybe see where you’re at when it’s closer and it could help with your decision

I got induced at 41 weeks with my first and I was only in labor for 4 hours! Overall a really positive experience but when I got to the hospital I was already 98% effaced and 2.5 cm dilated!
