My baby is 4 days old, and I feel like all I do is feed her. She's always looking for me for food. We started using a pacifier already, but she still wants to eat constantly. Does anyone have any advice?

She’s cluster feeding because you’re likely not producing your milk yet. She’s just stimulating more production. If it’s too much on you it’s okay to give a some formula if you need to.

Mary said it perfectly. My daughter did the same thing I know it can feel very overwhelming but it’s just a process of your breasts developing a relationship with your baby. Have some grace for yourself and never feel bad having to feed your baby in a way that fits your needs as well. There is no wrong way to feed your baby.

Days 3-5 are the hardest in my opinions. My girly was clusterfeeding like every 30-1 hour for 2 nights in a row. Once my milk stabilized we have been great. Hang in there usually cluster feeding only last about 2- 3 nights (not the entire day and night though)

It's like no matter how long she feeds for she wants more as soon as she wakes up. I just feel like I can't do anything because she's going to be hungry as soon as I start doing something.

All these ladies gave great advice! Hang in there, it’ll get better! I wouldn’t try or plan on getting much done honestly. I just kinda had to accept prioritizing being there for my baby when they need me most. It’s okay to let a few things go❤️ Don’t let yourself feel pressured!

yeah, I’m with on this one, I’ve just gotten accustomed to the idea that I will get nothing done in the first few months. The first few months baby can’t regulate sleep, cluster feeds and goes through Leaps, they need you so much that it’s best just to get accustomed to that

Have you started to pump at all? I breastfeed and pump so I am not the only one exclusively feeding my baby. Gives me a good mental break from him constantly on my boob.

@Tracy I'm pumping but my milk hasn't come in yet. So still waiting.

@Kimberly just latch her any time she wants! After your milk comes in the times will get shorter.

during first couple of weeks, I wanted to build a strong supply so I could have a freezer stash. I was successful! Here’s what I did: every two hours I let baby nurse till she got a let down, then handed her off to my husband who would then feed her some pumped milk, I would then pump for 15 minutes.
Doing this boosted my production and got me a solid freezer stash. It came in handy when I ended up admitted again for pre-eclampsia, I was only gone for a day, but my baby had milk and didn’t have to go to the hospital with me.

great advice ! I’m going to try this

My daughter is 9 days old now and sometimes I use formula if I need a break. There’s nothing wrong with doing both.

if you need to supplement with formula. i did this with my little one at first i was frustrated because i thought it was going to ruin our BF journey but it did not. i would pump give him whatever i could and supplement the rest with formula, i continued to do this for about two weeks to make sure he was eating and gaining weight, now that my milk is in he’s back to only breast milk 🤍 hope that helps you some. give yourself some grace mama you’ll figure out what works best for you and your little one

I went through the same thing. My daughter was losing weight too fast because my milk hadn’t come in yet. It took about a week and a half to fully come in. We supplemented with formula and I started pumping to get it to let down. She is a month old now and solely on breast milk. It was a mental struggle for me because I felt like a failure for not being able to produce enough food to fully feed her but I was being too hard on myself
