Consultant led pregnancy

Did you ask your midwife about it on the 16 weeks appointment? They can check the system and tell you if there is appointments or referrals made. I have met my consultant just after my 16 weeks midwife appointment.

I have a consultant led pregnancy and only have a 16 week check up booked with my midwife then don’t have another NHS scan until nearly 21 weeks, but I think it depends on your individual needs as everyone’s pregnancy is different. If you’re worried you can always contact them x

yeah see I don’t even have the 16 week, she’s not spoke to me😂💀 no scan booked or anything either! I’ve had to go through the doctors to get to the midwife so hopefully she’ll call me back on Wednesday

Unfortunately different hospitals do things differently. I hope you can sort it out soon. It must be annoying not knowing what is going on. I know my midwife personally and I can always just contact by phone. I think I got lucky with that.

I'm consultant led. I'm seeing the consultant every 4 weeks now. Midwife every 3. Perhaps contact your consultant to check what's going on?

It’s very stressful I have to say, never seen the consultant and haven’t seen the midwife since booking.. honestly driving me mad I feel so so unsupported

I had one at 12 weeks because I was late getting into doctors and then they didn't give me another until 21 weeks until I asked the midwife if I was supposed to have one. As far as I have seen not 100% but it seems most people only have them for first pregnancies or high risk pregnancy now if theres any potential issues I believe after COVID it's all changed so you don't really see midwife as often now, don't quote me as I'm not 100% but from what I've seen. It does feel really unsupportive though not having them it's so stressful especially when it's the first baby you just never know everything panics you and having no one to speak too properly about it, I'm 17 weeks with my first now xx

My consultant appointment is booked for 17 weeks (next week) then I’m seeing the midwife the day after. Every area is different x

sadly this is my first pregnancy and I’m still not getting anything! It feels like everywhere is completely different!

maybe someone will attempt to see me soon then! I have nothing booked until the end of March now which is my glucose test!!

I'm consultant led and I didn't see her until today (I'm 19 weeks) my previous appointments have all been with my community midwife or midwives at the hospital. I'm now seeing my consultant every other week. I would deffo give your midwife a call. X

Hi could someone please elaborate what consultants do and if this for all pregnancies? I have only had my standard midwife appointments and nhs scans at hospital and unaware what this is for?

@Rebecca you are consultant led usually if there are problems or have been problems in the past. For example, I'm consultant led because I've had 10 unexplained losses. So, consultant led is a more monitored, guided pregnancy, at least in my experience. I've been seeing the consultant weekly to check the fetus is still alive since week 6. And now I'm into the second trimester, on top of seeing the midwife every 3 weeks (again, more regular to due loss history) I'll be seeing the consultant every 4. The consultant is far more focused on the fetus and its development. Midwife is about you.
