Did anyone find becoming a mum massively overwhelming?

Although my baby is nearly 11 months old I feel like I’m still coming to terms with the whole motherhood thing but not for the reasons obvious reasons. I took to the ‘practical’ side very easily such as caring for my baby and getting to know them etc and found I was a pretty ‘natural’ mum. Not really sure how to put it in words but I found the whole change to your life/way people approach you and your mind constantly focusing on your baby a huge change to adapt to.

I also love my baby more than life but can honestly say the first 2/3 weeks I was purely in survival mode as it was a huge shock to the system so didn’t get that instant love at first sight. Not really sure if I’m explaining myself here or what I’m expecting from sharing this except maybe to know I’m not alone.

Yeah, I agree with everything you’ve mentioned!
It’s been a massive change to my life and even now I still miss my freedom as I was always popping in and out of the house whether it was just to B&M or Tesco! But now I really have to psych myself up if we’re going anywhere as it can sometimes take a couple of hours to even get out the house!
The first month of being a mum I felt I had no connection to her and she was just getting in the way of my life (how horrible is that!!) but the love & bond just grew stronger as the weeks went on.
100% the hardest part for me is the adaption to my lifestyle. X

I still struggle everyday with how much life has changed and how much you lose your independence! I found that harder than looking after the baby

I find being a mum really hard. I've never felt maternal at all and I don't feel very natural at it. I absolutely adore her and spending time with her but I think I find the mental load of remembering everything and being the main care giver on top of the house bits, life admin hard. I do everything on my own apart from bath time which my partner gets home for just in time after work. He wouldn't have a clue what she needs and what times etc and that I find difficult. I'm going back to work in a month and I'm hoping that I will find myself a bit more which will help even though it will be 10 times harder trying to remember and organise everything on top of work! It's definitely the life change. You aren't the only one x

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
