Stay at home dad

So I’m not sure how to handle this. I’m such a non confrontational person. I usually just go with the flow and it is what it is but….
My LO is 4 months and my SO and I decided he’d be a stay at home dad and I’d work. I work 2 jobs and he’s complaining. He gets mad when the baby needs attention and he can’t play video games or just watch a movie. Like did he not realize what raising a baby would entail. He has a previous child 12 so I assumed he would now when he said he’d like to stay home. I don’t get to watch movies and play games while working why should you while working. Stay at home parenting is a job in my book.
Am I wrong? I don’t think so but I could be.
How would one bring up that he’s just being a baby and needs to deal and be better?
I miss my baby everyday and would love to be home with him.
Picture just cause he’s a cutie who just discovered he has a tongue.

i get both sides, being the SAHM myself, i feel like i dont get a minute. ever where as my partner finishes work and can have a relaxing shit, play a game, scroll on his phone. my ‘work day’ with baby carries on until bedtime and then sometimes through the night, id love if my partner came home and said ill take over baby while you play some games or what ever it very rarely happens though

I do take the baby when I get home I do all the house work and do all the feedings and changes at night. So I am full time work and then full time momma when I get home cause I know he’s been with the baby all day.

You’re not wrong. Just tell him..” doing it by yourself isn’t easy. But you do have a job just like i do. It feels like you should be able to get more done bc you’re at home but you’re tending to a whole human being who can’t do anything. Come up with a schedule and try to stick to it. That way you know how much time you have “

if thats the case you need to speak up to him! its one thing if hes doing the nights and housework too like i do, but if youre doing that on top of working thats completely not acceptable

Thank you just wanted to make sure I wasn’t in the wrong

I don't know...I feel like my husband is out of the house all day with his full time job, and I'm at home during the day with our toddler with my full time job parenting (SAHM). When he gets home he takes our little man and gives me time, and we sort of split things in the evening because we realize that we are both equally working during the day. And any of the outside jobs I've ever had in my entire life have never been as hard and draining as taking care of a little human. Of course I love my child very much and so grateful I get to be with him, but whew, the breaks for some down time/me time are so needed for my mental health and to keep going each day. I'm very grateful my husband comes home from work and helps me and gives me time to do what I need for myself 💕🙏🏽 It's not video games in my case but it's whatever I need...studying, a bath, a nap, whatever. We also share household responsibilities such as cleaning and cooking.

My husband and I switched roles; I work, he stays home. I was home for the first few years and it was overwhelming. I’d go stay at my family house time to time to get away from home and they also live about an hour away. My husband now stays home with our 4 year old and I don’t think he quite complains about it . He does play video games all day and watch tv if he’s not playing video games. I don’t mind it at all as the house is clean, dishes are done. When it’s not done, we or all of us tackle it down together. We’re trying for baby #2, and I’m not sure if I’ll go back to staying home or what but I’m sure we both will get through it together. My husband know what it’s like when I stayed home so when I was tired all the time, he now knows it too . My husband at first didn’t understand what it was like being a stay home parent but he now does and I now know what it’s like working and having the responsibility for everything.

Being a Stay at home parent is still a job it doesn’t mean you get to sit around and watch tv, play video games, relax. Its not a forever day off of work that you get to sit around and do nothing. It’s a job. You clean the house, play with baby, take them out to occupy them, make meals etc. yes I do sit down and scroll on my phone but not all day. And most of what I do I do while holding my LO. Vacuum while holding her, cook dinner while holding her, put away laundry while holding her.

I would say just make him work he clearly cant watch the baby, and honestly baby needs her moma this small, better you to stay home and he to work so much better trust me

it sure has me rethinking it lol

This is why I didn’t let my husband be a stay home dad. He has no self control for video games and my baby needs someone to stimulate and tend to him not only when he’s crying. So I’m making him work to pay for daycare. It’s almost even, but not for ever. Daycare gets cheaper over time and he feels responsible for his home and his baby and also get him off the computer :)

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama 😓

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ‘not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭

Separation Anxiety

My baby is nearly 6 months old and has just entered the separation anxiety stage… this evening I was trying to cook dinner whilst my husband was with the baby and he was just crying every time he couldn’t see me, with full blown hysterical sobbing, and as soon as he saw me again he started giggling and smiling. Any tips on how to stop this? And how long might this phase last?
My husband felt pretty disheartened and upset 😢
